If you are looking for a craft project to do with your children to prepare for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, a great educational and fun project would be to create a Native American bulletin board. They can use this board to hang things from and can keep it hanging on their wall all year round as tool of organization.

Creating a Native American bulletin board is will require a few items to make this project. You'll need:

• 4 longer sticks, and try to break them so that they are all the same size (or as close as possible)

• Twine

• Beads with larger holes

• Feathers (optional)

Step 1: (parents will need to assist with this part) you should be working with a flat surface, and place all 4 sticks down overlapping each other in a square shape.

Step 2: Take a foot long piece of twine weave the corners of the sticks together, weave the two corners together with the twine as many times as possible with the foot of twine. You'll then want to repeat this step for the other three corners as well.

Now at this point you have a square shape that is solidly put together.

Step 3: Take the twine and wrap the square shape vertically as many times as it takes to cover the entire square shape. Then repeat this process going horizontally across the entire square. Once this has been completed, you should have a checkerboard appearance covering the square.

Step 4: Repeat step 3 a few more times, until the holes are very small. While weaving, you can add the beads for additional decoration.

After all this is done you have a great bulletin board. The easiest way to hang things off of this great Native American board is to punch a hole through whatever you want to hang up, and tie a piece of twine through it and attach it to the bulletin board by tying the twine around a piece of twine attached to the board. You're child will have plenty of space to hang various different objects from this. Along with the twine tying method, you can always hang anything with a hook (that doesn't weigh much) from the board as well. You can also add some feathers hanging with twine from the board at the bottom, that way the bulletin board will have a dream catchers look to it as well.

If you are going for completely naturally look for your Native American board, you can make beads out of clay and have your children paint them.
