Natural hair color rinses are a great way to lower your exposure to harsh chemicals and save money in the process.

If your hair is light brown or dark blonde with a small amount of gray then this recipe is for you. This natural hair color rinse for light brown or dark blonde hair is non-toxic and doesn't contain harsh chemicals that can be bad for the environment. This natural hair color rinse for light brown or dark blonde hair will also condition your hair helping it to look healthier and frizz free after repeated use.

However, this hair color rinse is not like the commercial hair dye products that many women use. It will take a few applications of the hair color rinse for you to notice your hair color changing. This gradual process of hair coloring will make your hair color look more natural to the people around since it happens over time.

The process will also help you avoid the sometimes nasty shock that can come when use of a commercial hair dye product results in a color much different than what you were striving for. Despite the advantages of changing your hair color gradually you may wish to speed up the process so I will also include instructions for making the natural hair color rinse more concentrated so it will work faster at coloring light brown or dark blonde hair.

Time required to prepare and use the natural hair color rinse recipe: expect to spend between ten and fifteen minutes prepping the hair color rinse recipe. Also plan to spend 25 to 35 minutes applying the natural hair color rinse and allowing the rinse to set. You can save time by preparing a large batch of the natural hair color rinse recipe and storing the unused portion in a clean two liter soda bottle in the refrigerator.

You will need these ingredients to prepare the natural hair color rinse recipe: 3 cups of water; 6 chamomile tea bags; 1 cup of carrot juice and one small lemon.

You will need these utensils and implements to prepare the natural hair color rinse recipe: medium size saucepan; measuring cup; large wooden spoon; large mixing bowl and a sharp knife.

Begin preparing the natural hair color rinse recipe by bringing the cups of water to a rolling boil in the saucepan. Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the 6 chamomile tea bags to the pan. Cover the pan and allow the chamomile to steep for 10 minutes.

Chamomile will naturally lighten your hair mildly bringing out warm golden tones. This helpful herb's inclusion in the hair color rinse recipe will also make your hair softer, shinier and healthier looking.

Next use the sharp knife to cut the small lemon into easily squeezable slices; then squeeze the juice from the lemon into the large mixing bowl taking care to remove any seeds that may fall in.

Lemon will lighten your hair giving you light golden tones. Lemon also acts as an anti-septic and its vitamin C content will help remove dead skin cells from your scalp to allow your hair to grow better. The lemon juice will also help remove build-up from your hair.

After squeezing the lemon juice into the mixing bowl add the one cup of carrot juice to the hair color rinse mixture. Stir the hair color rinse mixture thoroughly. The beta carotene pigment present in carrot juice will bring out warm golden and strawberry blonde tones in your hair. Its inclusion in the hair color rinse recipe will also help remove dead skin cells and build-up from your scalp.

Once the chamomile has finished steeping, remove the tea bags and pour the tea into the hair color rinse mixture. Stir carefully after allowing the mixture to cool down. Allow the mixture to cool down to a temperature that is still very warm but that will not burn your skin.

It is easiest to apply the mixture to your hair in the bathtub or while standing over a sink. Place the large mixing bowl in the tub, kneel and then dunk your hair repeatedly in the mixture making sure to rub it into your scalp area. Wring your hair out in between each dunking. After dunking your hair ten to fifteen times, dunk it one final time and submerse it in the mixture for several minutes. Then wring your hair out just enough that there isn't a lot of dripping, pile your hair on your head and wrap it up in a towel.

Allow the natural hair color rinse to set for 25 to 30 minutes. Then rinse it out. Use the natural hair color rinse three to four times a week until you achieve the color results that you desire. After that you should only have to use the rinse every one to two weeks to maintain your hair color.

If you wish to have quicker or more dramatic results reduce the amount of water you use in the recipe by half while keeping the rest of the ingredients the same. You may also allow the chamomile tea bags to steep longer and leave the finished mixture on your hair for up to 45 minutes.

After use funnel any leftover hair color rinse into a clean two liter soda bottle and store it in the fridge until you are ready to use again. You can store the hair color rinse in the refrigerator for up to one week.
