How to Navigate the Coupon Rules

Mrs. Renee

Couponing is certainly nothing new to many moms, especially those who have become seasoned shoppers. If you are just starting out with couponing there is one thing that can not be overlooked. The rules of couponing change from one store to the next. It really makes sense to sit down and go over the rules for each of the stores before you visit them with your coupons. Below you will find five of the top reasons why this important.

Not all coupons are accepted

The first thing that you may quickly come to realize is that not all coupons are accepted at every store. It is important to read through the stores coupon terms carefully. Some stores have it set up so that you can only use their own coupons. The benefit is that you don't end up at the register with a much higher bill than you originally calculated.

Doubling does not happen everywhere

When it comes to coupons being doubled, or even tripple this is really exclusive to certain stores. Doubling is great if you head to the right store. However if you have coupons that can not be doubled or stores that do not do this it can affect your overall shopping budget.

There is a limit

Some coupons also have limits placed on them. This means that you can only purchase up to four of a particular item. Many companies and stores do this to keep the shelves from getting completely wiped out by one person. Keep in mind that manufactures want to make sure that as many people as possible get to try their product when it is on sale. If only one person cleans the shelves of their sales items than they are not getting the advertising that they were going for with the coupons. So always be sure to read the fine print on your coupon carefully.

Number of coupon limits

Some stores also have a limit on the number of coupons that you can use for one product. Some stores only allow one coupon per product, while others allow you to use several different coupons for one one store. It is important to see if you can stack coupons at a particular store before visiting.

Internet coupons

Due to issues with fraud, some stores have stopped accepting internet coupons. This means that if your store does not allow internet coupons, than you will have to do a lot more cutting and clipping.
