How to Make a No Sew Christmas Tablecloth
Learn How to Make a No Sew Christmas Tablecloth, to Decorate Your Table This Holiday Season
Materials:
Cotton fabric large enough to make the size tablecloth needed to fit your table
applique fabric
paper backed fusible webbing sheets
fusible webbing tape
holiday stencils and a pen or pencil..
Directions:
Before you begin crafting your no sew Christmas tablecloth, you will need to wash and dry the fabrics that you will be using. This way if any shrinkage occurs, it will take place before crafting and not interfere with the size of the tablecloth or the appliques. Now iron out the fabric, so that it lays nice and flat. Measure (adding a 1/2" seam allowance) and cut the fabric to fit your table dimensions.
Now you are ready to add the hem to your no sew Christmas tablecloth. Begin by folding and pressing a 1/4 inch seam of the fabric along the edges of the tablecloth with the fabric facing, wrong side up. Lay the fusible tape with the paper side facing up, along pressed edges of fabric. Lightly iron over the paper for a few seconds. Do not remove the paper backing, just yet. Now turn the pressed edge over another 1/4" and press it in place. Now you can unfold the pressed edge and remove the paper backing. Refold the fabric and iron the fold to create a bond.
Now you are ready to make your appliques for your no sew Christmas tablecloth. Begin by laying your applique fabric face down on a flat surface. Place the fusible webbing onto the fabric (paper side up) and iron over the paper (according to the package directions). Let cool. Now place the holiday stencil on top of the paper and outline the designs that you plan to use. Cut out your designs and remove the paper backing. Now you can arrange the appliques onto your no sew Christmas tablecloth in your desired pattern and iron them in place.
Tips: You can purchase a premade stencil or craft a template using card stock. Draw your Christmas shapes onto the card stock and cut out the designs. If you would like to embellish your no sew Christmas tablecloth even more, you can add trim along the bottom and attach it with the fusible tape. Some options to consider are: beaded trim, fringe or pompoms.
I hope you enjoy crafting this no sew Christmas tablecloth! May you have the happiest of Holidays!
