Learn how to make your prized pooch a soft and comfy no sew fleece dog bed. This no sew fleece dog bed is a great way to keep your furry friend off of the furniture and give them their own special place to lay. You can even customize the no sew fleece dog bed with your dogs name or doggy designs. Just follow the easy steps below.

Materials:

fleece fabric
2 bed pillows or thick foam
scissors
tape measure
tailors chalk
3" x 3" cardboard square
fabric paint
stencils and a sponge brush.

Determine the amount of fleece you will need to cover the pillows or foam, taking into account the 3" fringe all the way around.

To make your no-sew fleece dog bed:

You will need a flat firm surface to work on. Begin by folding the fleece fabric in half. Cut the fleece along the fold, to make the front and back sections of the dog bed. Lay the fleece that is intended for the top onto your work surface, face up. Using the stencils create a design or your dogs name onto the fabric with the fabric paint and foam brush (at least 5" from the edge to allow for the fringe). Let the paint dry.

Next, place the two pieces of fleece fabric together, with the painted fleece face up, on top. Smooth it out until it lays flat. Now place a straight pin approx. 4 inches in from the edge of the fabric through both layers, repeat approx.every four inches, just enough to hold the two fabrics together. Measure the width and length of the fleece to your dog bed specifications and mark, cut through both layers along the marked measurements. Now that the fabric is cut to size, place the 3" cardboard in one corner, while holding it firmly in place trace around it. Follow the same step on the 3 remaining corners.

Now cut out each 3"x3" section from all four corners (through both layers). Cut a fringe around the fabrics that is 3 inches deep and 1 inch apart. Double knot the top fringe with the fringe underneath from the bottom layer. While tying the fringe together, do not pull the fabric too tight or it will stretch. Tie three sides, leaving one side untied for inserting the pillows or foam. Remove all of the straight pins. After inserting the pillows or foam, tie the fourth section closed. You have finished making a no sew fleece dog bed.

Hints: To add more color to the no sew fleece dog bed, use a different color fleece fabric for the front and back. To help with odors, insert a scented sachet into the no fleece dog bed. Replace when needed.

How to clean your no sew fleece dog bed:

To remove the cover, untie one side and place the fleece in the washer, using warm water on a normal cycle. Dry on a warm or fluff dry cycle. Wash or replace the bed pillows or foam and tie it back up.
