How to Make a Non-Drying Anti-Bacterial Hand Sanitizer with Essential Oils and Aloe

Candice

Taking personal responsibility for our health is the number one way we can all stay healthier and happier. With all the viruses and flu germs (like H1N1, Swine flu and other viral contagions) lurking around, now is a great time to start using hand sanitizers. In this article you'll learn how to create an all natural and "organic" version of Anti-Bacterial Hand Sanitizer without all the alcohol in it that may dry and crack your skin (leading to open wounds or sores which are more susceptible to germs).

Instructions & things you'll need:

· 24 oz. Natural Aloe Vera Gel
· 15 drops Lavender Essential Oil
·5 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
· 10 drops Lemon Essential Oil
· 5-10 drops of Ravintsara Essential Oil

· or if you have the following essential oils use them instead of the above recipe
· 24 ounces Aloe Vera Gel
· 5 drops Ravintsara
· 5 drops Lavender Essential Oil
· 3 drops Tea Tree Essential Oil
· 8 drops Citrus Essential Oil (like Lemon or Orange)
· 5 drops Eucalyptus Essential Oil
· 4 drops Lemongrass Essential Oil
· 3 drops Rosemary Essential Oil
· 3 drops Myrtle Essential Oil

· 1 ounce glass bottle or jar
· small plastic bottles or just use the Aloe Vera Gel bottle

Instructions:

1 Add your Essential Oils to the 1 ounce glass bottle or jar and swirl to mix to create your germ fighting blend. Using either recipe above will work fabulously. Don't add more essential oils as it may change the consistency of the product and in this case less is more when it comes to using essential oils, as they are very potent and may cause more harm than good if you use too much.

2 Add your Essential Oil Blend to the Aloe Vera Gel and shake or stir to blend well. You may also use a stick blender if you have one (they make it much quicker and easier, but make sure it is well cleaned before and after you use it). You're almost done!

3 After your sanitizer is blended together well, just pour into small plastic bottles, or recycled pump bottles, anything you want to put it in really. I like to use those empty travel size hotel toiletry bottles. But anything would work. Some suggest to use a little bit of alcohol in this to allow faster drying time on your skin, but that's just it...alcohol dries the skin, so I don't normally add it. The aloe / essential oil blend works just peachy. And you can believe that it really works too! I've used it many times and have had wonderful results. Plus it leaves your skin nice and supple, not hard, dry and cracked like some other Anti-Bacterial Hand Sanitizers :) I do use alcohol to clean any reused bottles, pumps, jars or whatever you are reusing to make sure they are sanitary.

Tips & Warnings

I like to use a "stick blender" to mix the oils into the aloe. Speeds the process and ensures it's blended well. Make sure the blender is very clean and sanitary before use.

Please do not add extra essential oils. Essential Oils are natural substances, but they can be harmful if misused, sometimes less is more, as essential oils can be toxic if too much is used. Please do not use Essential Oils directly on the skin without a carrier (i.e. aloe, sweet almond oil, etc.).
