How Not to Celebrate a Special Birthday

Pat Burroughs
This little Christmas poem might give you something to think about on your next birthday.

How Not to Celebrate a Special Birthday

Suppose it was your birthday

And everybody came,

Brought each other presents,

And cursed your father's name.

Everyone ignored you

As if you weren't around.

Some of them insulted you;

A friend could not be found.

Many of the revelers

Were soon inebriated

And treated those around them

Like someone that they hated.

And then they started singing

In a disrespectful way,

And not one person wished you

A single "Happy Birthday!"

Now I know I'm being silly

In this little Christmas poem

But it makes me sad to think how few

Would really want to know Him.

There's no harm in Christmas gifts

If they're given from the heart

And don't create a hardship

On the buyer's part.

But we all need to realize

At every Christmas Season

Whose birth it is we celebrate--

Jesus is the Reason.
