How NOT to Make Money with Associated Content

Jan S
So, you have either just started writing for Associated Content or have been a contributor for awhile and still can't get those elusive views to your articles; what are you doing wrong? Probably not the right things otherwise you would not be reading this. I am going to list 8 major things that will not get you any views to your articles:

Write about something common
If you pick a subject that is too common, your article will be on page 15 of a Google search, never to be found.

Pick a bland title for your article
Do you know how many articles on AC start with "How to?" Way too many. Never mind that I just added this one to the mix.

Don't use spell check or grammar check
People just love to struggle through your poorly written articles. They love them so much that they come back for more....NOT.

Follow the advice of someone new on AC
This is a case of the blind leading the blind. I saw at least 6 articles written in the last 2 days about how to make money with AC, all from people with over 200 articles and less than 15K views. Please don't take their advice, they can't get views themselves.

Treat your writing as a part time hobby
If you treat AC like a place to blog or a part time hobby, you will never make much money here. Just go and start a blog and be done with it.

Don't ever comment on any article on AC
Just stick to yourself and don't get involved with the community. The less fans you have the better, never mind that they might just promote your work......should you have any fans that is. Oh yes, to get fans you have to be one.

Never do any keyword research
If you don't know what a keyword or key phase is and you write for the internet, you might as well quit right now. You have to know what words to use in your first 200 characters to get Google to notice you.

Never promote your work outside of AC
Forget Twitter, your own blog, Digg, Stumble Upon and all that other social media. Just let people find your work by chance. Maybe in 10 years you'll have enough views per month to get a coffee at Starbucks.

Now if I have not dropped enough hints for you to go and make those 200+ articles in your account finally make money for you, you will never take a hint.

Denise, I had a very slow start with AC. I joined then did not submit anything for over a year!! I had no idea how everything worked. Needless to say I think I know what I am doing now.

I love this article. I have to admit I have fallen into some of these things myself over the last two years, and that's the main reason for my slow start.
