How Not to Quit Your Job: Why a Simple Two Weeks Notice is so Much Easier

Let's face it, everyone out there has a job or has had a job they never liked. A lot people myself including myself have always thought about just up and leaving without saying a word because they hate it so much. The only problem about that is do people actually think about the consequences about doing that?

There are so many ways you can burn yourself if you just up and quit a job and regardless of the circumstances you are much better off to just give them the two weeks notice. There are a few things that can really have a lasting effect if you just up and quit such as future employment and not to mention lack of income if you don't have other jobs to fall back on.

Anytime you leave that place of employment as a previous employment spot, then you should know right off the bat what your managers will have to say about you. Your pretty much dead if the place of employment calls them asking for their opinions on your work ethics. You could always choose to leave that place off your application or resume but it could still come back to get you later on in your career.

If your co-workers didn't feel to highly about your quitting method, and you apply someplace where one of them now works, then you could facing another shutdown. I personally have had this happen and I was pretty shocked that someone I was pretty close to even told the employer about what had happened while they were going through applications. The bottom line here is just don't do this. Just give the two weeks notice no matter how much you hate your job.

The big reason for quitting a job is because you've found a better job. Well if you up and quit without anywhere else to go, then what? Unless you have a backup to fall back on then this is a pretty stupid decision to make. When I up and left my job, I had other secondary work that would do so I could pay off my car insurance and gas each month.

Even to this date I cannot find a job around where I live and it's sad the fact I let a job go like that even if it was the most hated thing of my life. Thankfully for sites like Associated Content, I can still manage to pay my bills each month while I'm looking for full time work. Even if I found a part time job, AC can still help my pay my bills every month.

If I could go back and take this all back, I would for sure. It was very unprofessional and pathetic to just up and leave without any warning. These people took a chance on me and I pretty much threw it back in their face. I had a few problems with management at times but I always did my job and put up with people all day but in the end I felt like I was given the run around several times. Even so, nobody should do what I did and you should always give a two weeks notice.
