How to not get tasered during a traffic stop
As soon as you see the flashing red and blue lights of a police car behind you, pull over calmly when it is safe to do so. Roll down your window enough to speak with the police officer and put your hands on the steering wheel. If the police officer tells you to get out of your vehicle, do it carefully. Do not get out of your vehicle unless the police officer tells you to. Follow all instructions the officer gives you. Speak calmly to the police officer. The time to argue over a ticket is at court, not on the side of the road.
How to not get tasered when approached by police on the street
If you are walking or standing on the street or sidewalk and you are approached by a police officer, remain calm. If the officer tells you to walk toward him, do so. If the police officer tells you to stand still, do it. Take your hands out of your pockets and keep your arms to your sides during the encounter. If you want to leave, ask the police officer before trying to leave. When you talk to the police officer, use a calm voice. Do not shout, use obsenities, or insult the police officer. When the police officer tells you to leave, do it calmly.
How to not get tasered at school
When approached by a school security officer, remain calm. Do not try to walk or run away. If the school security officer asks to search your bag or locker, you must comply. If you disagree with the search, ask to call your parents. The school security officer does not have to allow this at the time of the search and does have the right to search, but you can call your parents after the search. When making a request of the school security officer, be calm and don't yell. If your request is refused, let it go. Your parents can deal with the situation later. The main thing to remember is to use common sense. Don't run from the school security officer, don't cuss at him or talk back. Stay calm.
How to not get tasered at a ball game
You can avoid being tasered at ball games by using common sense. Do not run or walk onto the field or court. Spectators are not permitted in that area. If a security officer gives you an instruction, obey it.
How to avoid getting tasered when you have a disability
People with certain disabilities are more likely to get tasered by police. If you are deaf, hard of hearing, autistic, developmentally disabled, or physically disabled there is an easy way to minimize your chances of getting tasered by police. Carry a card in your wallet or pocket stating what your disability is. If you have a caregiver the card should include this info. Whenever you are approached by a police officer you should give this card to the officer immediately. By informing the police of your inability to follow their verbal instructions, you can avoid getting tasered for this reason.

Post a CommentOnce, I communicated disrespectfully to an officer. That was the last time I did that. And I didn't need a tasing to get me to change my behavior.
Hopefully the cops aren't so trigger happy this becomes a real worry- great tips tho- remain calm and respectful :)
Although once or twice I have felt unjustly treated, I always restrain myself in ways you suggest.
Great tips! All things that are good to keep in mind, although I hope it never comes up in my life!
I hope I never have to use this information!! :)
Wow, how about not doing ANYTHING stupid or illegal?!
I haven't seen that video yet Cassandra, but I hear you! I've read about a deaf man tear gassed and tasered because he didn't come out of a public bathroom when the police knocked and shouted for him to come out. Um, the dude is deaf! Another showed a very elderly woman tasered in a parking lot with no apparent reason. I could go on. What galls me is that those cases don't make national news, but idiots who could have easily avoided getting tasered do seem to make it on CNN. This creates the false illusion that most people being tasered are asking for it.
God, this would NEVER happen in Thailand. US police have always been an 'organized gang' but they're now completely out of control. Did you see the video the other week of the 60-odd year old man who had called paramedics because he'd fallen, then the police arrived and tasered him IN HIS OWN HOME? Disgusting.
Now you tell me! LOL
Good tips.
