How to Obtain Makeup Artist Results Without the Cost

How to Be Your Own Makeup Artist

Malina Debrie
You can obtain the same results as a makeup artist with a little education and the proper tools. Makeup application is an art. It takes skill to apply makeup that makes you look glamorous and beautiful without disguising the natural you.

The cost of a makeup artist applying your makeup daily is far beyond the reach of the normal working person. However, one appointment with an artist can make you want to never remove your makeup. After looking at the difference before and after, you feel like a brand new person yet with the same face.

Know Your Skin Type: Oily, Dry or Combination

How do you obtain makeup artist results at home? First and foremost, you must know your skin type. Do you have oily, dry or combination skin? If you have oily skin, your makeup must be that for an individual whose skin produces more oil than normal. The makeup used by oily skin women will diminish the size and look of your pores, adds a formula to reduce the oil production and maintain a dry base to the skin. Oily skin complexions will typically result in a shine during the heat of the day. When wearing makeup designed for the oily skin complexion, the makeup diminishes the shine. Never wear makeup designed for dry skin. The dry skin person has less of an issue. Makeup works well with this individual skin type than others. The combination skin person finds that they generally have oil accumulation on the forehead, cheeks and chin.

Know Your Underlying Skin tone

We all have a seemingly underlying skin tone. That tone can be enhanced which results in a more gorgeous glow to your complexion. Some women have a peachy tone, some have a more reddish tone, others may be pink, then some can even be blue or green. Whatever that tone may be, identify it and work with it. You've seen women with blue eyes, green eyes, hazel eyes or even brown eyes. They work with their eyeshadow to enhance and define the colors in their eyes. By the same token, you can work with the underlying tone and enhance your beauty. In nature, there are thousands and thousands of colors. Similarly, we all have unique color tones in our complexion. Work with those as the makeup artist does.

Schedule an Appointment with A Makeup Consultant

Makeup consultants at different department stores will schedule an appointment with you free of charge. These makeup consulting sessions are designed to gain clients. However, you can use the expertise of these individuals and their training to your advantage at no cost. Schedule an appointment. When arriving, have a note pad and pen available to jot down information discussed. Take extra care and pay close attention to the products used. Jot down the type of products and any identifying information. If there is a question regarding why something is being used, ask. The more information obtained, the better you can duplicate the results. Sometimes, their products may not work as you want. When this occurs, take a trip to the local CVS or drug store. Visit the makeup counter and peruse the many items. Trial and error can be fascinating when trying to obtain makeup artist results.

Notice Which Colors When Worn Enhance Your Beauty

When purchasing clothing, we all notice some colors complement our complexions more than others. The colors that seem to make you glow or those that make people compliment you or your attire are the colors that identify your tone. Some have a warm complexion while others are more cool. Colors that enhance your tone are the ones that should be used when applying makeup. Of course you will not find blue or green foundation or concealers, but you can work with lipstick and blushes that have the underlying warm or cool look.

Before applying any makeup to your face, remember cleansing and exfoliating is vital in all beauty regimes. Make sure and use cleansing products that work with and for your complexion. It's always important to cleanse you skin by using a product that does not irritate your skin or cause any abrasions. Next make sure you exfoliate your skin on a regular basis at least once a month. If your skin is oily, use an astringent nightly.
