We are always surrounded by negativity. For every one positive thinker, there are 5 negative thinkers. It is important to your own thinking that you learn to remain positive, even when you are being confronted by negative people. The best way to achieve this is through self-motivation.
If you learn to effectively "bounce" off the negativity, by basically ignoring it or shrugging it off, you can combat it. The best thing to do is to stay away from people that you know are overly negative, but as we all know, this is not always possible.
In learning self-motivation, you are learning to trust yourself and your abilities. By being able to reach this milestone, you are gaining the confidence that you need. Try positive affirmation. Think about the Little Engine That Could. This childhood story shows us that if we believe in ourselves, we can do anything that we put our minds to. If necessary, you can repeat phrases to yourself, such as "I can do this."
The worst thing that you can do is to give up when times get tough. This is the coward's way out. There are going to be many situations in your life where you feel that you cannot complete what you have set out to. It is important to face these challenges head on, with a renewed confidence that you can do anything if you try hard enough.
Most importantly, you should learn to enjoy your life no matter what. You should pretend as though nothing really matters; all aspects of your life are simply there, and are not really important. Learn to appreciate things more frequently.
Keep your mind open to new possibilities. Don't be afraid of changes. Quite frequently, change is necessary in order for us to grow as human beings. Change is also necessary for us to learn, and life is about always learning.
Finally, learn to love yourself. Accept who you are. Every person has their own personality, motives, and ideals. It is important or you to understand that by accepting who you are, you are paving the way for self-improvement. You should also know that by experiencing trials, and errors, you are learning from your mistakes, which gives you the ability to improve.
