How to Obtain a Visa in Bahrain

SL Newman
If you are interested in moving abroad either for a short term or long term stay in Bahrain you will most likely need to get your self a visa of some type to be able not only enter Bahrain but to stay for the period of time that you wish. Almost all visitors coming to Bahrain are required to have visas to enter the country and stay for any period of time. This applies to people that are coming to Bahrain on holiday or vacation, people that are coming to Bahrain on a business trip, and people that are coming to Bahrain to live and work in the country for any period of time.

In order to be able to obtain a visa to come to Bahrain you will need to have a local sponsor to support your application. If you are coming to Bahrain for employment then your sponsor will be the company that you will be working for once you arrive in the country. If you are instead coming to Bahrain for a holiday or vacation trip then you will be able to have the hotel that you will be staying at to act as your sponsor. And if you are coming into Bahrain for a business trip you will also be able to use the hotel that you will be staying at as your sponsor.

If you will need to use your hotel as your sponsor then you will need to actually request that service from them in advance. You will need to send them your travel itinerary and a copy of your passport at least three weeks before you intend to arrive in Bahrain. Before you actually leave your home country to come to Bahrain you will want to check with the hotel that your visa will be left for you at your point of entry. Otherwise you will travel all the way to Bahrain and not be permitted to enter the country. You will be charged a fee by your hotel for this service. Your hotel will also be able to apply for an extension to your visa if needed, however you will need an itinerary confirming when you will be leaving the country. Remember that with your hotel as your sponsor that means that they are responsible for you while you are in the country.

If you are not getting your visa through your employer then you will have to pay any fees associated with getting it. If you will be coming to Bahrain to take up employment then your employer is responsible for the fees for the visa and permits. If you need information on the cost of the visas then you can contact your local consulate of embassy for a current schedule of fees.
