A home office may seem like your personal domain but it is usually used by most members of your household. Your partner may use it when they need too. Children may come in when they need something and pets may roam at will leaving their hair everywhere, so in the end it's everybody's office.

That is why you should regularly have your home office cleaned. How regularly depends on the number of people who have access to it and how organized you are. In general when 2-3 people use it and you are basically an organized person, once a month would be good enough. If you are disorganized twice a month is a better idea.

The reason you should regularly clean your home office is that you are depending on the office for your livelihood to some extent and it is always good to take care of your finances.

Consider your habits and set up a schedule.

1. -- People who are unusually neat in their habits will clean the room after they finish work. They will file the papers and put the books and files in place. If you are in this category you can easily clean up once a month. Vacuum or mop your floor depending on your flooring and dust the furniture. Get rid of all those extra papers you do not use and fine tune all your appliances. Check the wiring and sockets so that there are no power surges when you least expect it.

21. --If you fall into the messy category then it's better to clean twice a month. For people who leave papers everywhere and never check the wires even when they slip on the cables need to ensure the room is safe and their papers in order. So clean twice a month to ensure that you are filing your papers properly and your database is up to date.

It is always a good thing to clean your home office at least once a week but people bogged down in their heavy schedules end up postponing their cleaning. However, for a home office it is essential that you remain organized and mess free. It will increase your productivity and ensure that the office seems like an office rather than a den.
