How Old is Jill Biden and Joe Biden: Obama Vice President Nominee

How Old is Jill Biden: Obama Names Joe Biden as VP Running Mate, but How Old is His Wife?

Penny Richards
How old is Jill Biden, Joe Biden's wife? Joe Biden is the vice presidential candidate for Obama. Earlier today, Democrat presidential candidate Barack Obama announced Joe Biden as his running-mate (source). But how old is Biden, the U.S. senator for Delaware? More importantly, how old is his wife: How old is Jill Biden?

It is hard to determine how old JIll Biden is. Jill Biden married Joe Biden in 1977, but Jill Biden's actual age is hard to determine. Jill Biden is in her late 50s, probably 57 (according to old reports several years ago). However, is the media's focus on how old Jill Biden is a proper attention to detail? Instead of asking how old Jill Biden is, we should be focused on her husband: Joe Biden.

Joe Biden was born on November 20, 1942. This makes Joe Biden 65 years old-quite a bit older than Obama, his running mate.

Obama's choice for vice president was presented in a press conference held after Obama announced his choice via text message to all of his supporters.

Biden is an interesting choice for vice president, and the obvious question is...

Will Joe Biden make a good vice president?

Why would Barack Obama want Biden as his vice president? Obviously, Obama is bowing to pressure from the media and the U.S. public that views him as inexperienced. Joe Biden, with decades of political experience, helps balance that out. However, Joe Biden also creates problems for Obama. For example, Biden is a seasoned Washington Democrat, which seems to contradict Obama's message of change and a difference approach to old-fashioned Washington, D.C., politics. For example, Biden supported the invasion of Iraq, a sticky point for Obama's campaign.

The age of Joe Biden is also an interesting factor. Many voters are focused on McCain's age as a negative factor (the senator is in his 70s). Biden also has this age factor to look into, with many decades over Obama.

Criticisms of Joe Biden as Obama's vice presidential choice:

Many see Biden as a poor choice. Critics have even used it as a case to "prove" that Obama makes bad decisions in the face of pressure and adversity.

Word on the Street: Is Joe Biden too old to be Obama's vice president?

"Yes," says Jane Lewis. "I'm a little hesitant to believe that Obama truly backs his message of change when he goes about choosing Biden, a prime example of old politics. We want something new, not old, corrupt political officials. Besides, Biden supported the invasion of Iraq, and we're supposed to take that?"

Joe Biden and Jill Biden: The Choice is Yours

Obama's choice of Biden brings yet another playing card into the tense arena of U.S. politics. Obama is probably hoping that Biden will bring in more voters who are worried that Obama doesn't have enough experience. The answer to whether or not Biden is too old will be determined when Americans go to the polls. Until then, Obama and Biden will be fighting for your votes.

Biden is 65. McCain is 72. While you say there is not that much difference, Biden could serve 2 terms before he is as old as McCain is now.
I do think experience is important, but more important is temperament, wisdom, flexibility, intellectual quickness and ability to grasp complex issues, and ability to think long term.
For my money that does not describe McCain or Palin. Palin particularly is very one dimensional and simplistic in her reasoning. I don't believe that she ever considered international issues or foreign policy prior to her being selected as McCain's running mate. I think she is another one of those people who decide from intuition and gut feeling and don't believe that its necessary to study things in depth...Kind of like McCain himself. And all of that is just too reminiscent of what we have now in Bush.
I want 2 very intelligent people in the highest office in the land. I don't want Joe Six-pack, as Sarah now seems to be proclaiming herself as if to por

I don't really understand why Jill Biden's age is even relevent in correlation with the rest of the information in this article. For what it's worth, age matters not. I'm not voting for a president because he is older or younger. I will base my vote on the issues.

There isn't that much age difference between Biden and McCain.....but the Democrats sure like to make it an issue for McCain who has much more experience to be President than any of them. In that age bracket, Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Regan are just a few past Presidents.

    Obama has zilch!

I'm not an Obama/Biden fan (even though I'm originally from DE), but what does Jill Biden's age have to do with anything?

I have a hard time buying that Biden is "too old" to be Vice President.
