How to Optimize Your Website Outside of Your Website

Roger C.
When you design your website it is important to keep in mind that you want it to rank high in the principal search engines. Optimizing your website by choosing the correct keywords and by updating your content regularly will definitely help in your rankings, but it is not enough. Taking action outside of your website is even more important to achieve good results; this is called off-page optimization.

In the early days of the internet, things such as keywords, description tags, and Meta tags were the most important aspect, but now due to abuse from the webmasters, the importance has shifted to off-page optimization in things such as incoming links, and overall online presence.

There are several ways in which you can increase the quantity of incoming links to your website, but remember that one-way links are more effective than two-way links. This means they are links coming to your website but your website doesn't have any links to that page. A simple way to get good one-way links is to buy them.

When you buy one-way links make sure you do so from a good website. Google sees a good website one with a high page rank that drives a lot of traffic. Low quality websites won't be very effective in giving you better page ranks, so keep this in mind before you decide to buy any link.

Incoming links from press release websites can be very effective. Search engines put a lot of weight in them, so you must use them. Some free sites are good as well as many of the pay sites, so it is up to you to choose the right one for you. Writing articles in several article sites will help as well. Top article directories have high ranks, lots of traffic and are free, so you should take advantage of this.

Blogging is another excellent tool you can use as well, and the great thing about it is that is free. Find a blog that is relevant to the content and audience you are seeking and make a comment. The comment you leave must be meaningful to the content and include your link. Useless comments though helpful too, can be considered spam and deleted by the owner.

Social networking is very popular, and for a good reason. The top social networking sites have very high page rank and they are free. Most importantly, apart from the network opportunities, they allow you to post your website's link without having to pay or have special permission.
