Getting your cosmetics organized can be a tricky business. Even the simplest and most paired back of women acquire a lot of beauty accoutrement, and then you have to figure out where to store all your cosmetics, and how to do it in the most space efficient way. Here are a few tips to help you organize your cosmetics using inexpensive dollar store organizer bins.

Organize Your Cosmetics in a Few Easy Steps Using Inexpensive Dollar Store Organizer Bins, Step 1

Before you even get to using your store bought organizer bins, you'll need to do some thinking about your cosmetics and your personal beauty routines.

First establish categories for your cosmetics:

Every Day Cosmetics -- these are cosmetics you use on a daily basis and want readily at-hand. Things like face cleanser, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel will likely fall into this category.

Infrequent and Storage Items -- these are cosmetics that you use weekly, monthly, or a few times a year. You'll want to do a few separate groups, pairing the more frequent items together and the seldom used items together.

Nail polish and body scrub, and face masks might fall into a weekly category; these might warrant a bin with handles which can be carried from one room to another without too much fuss. Items such as nail polish work great in a handled bin because then you can pick up the whole bin containing every item you might need and carry it to where you feel most comfortable doing your nails.

Cosmetics such as: hair dye, deep conditioning hair treatments, and wax hair removals might fall into a less frequently used category and should be stored appropriately.

Once you've grouped your cosmetics into these categories you can further break them down into items for hair, nails, skin, etc.

These basic organizing preparations all depend on your personal beauty routines of course, so give it some thought before you begin organizing.

Once you have your cosmetics grouped into categories, begin thinking about the best place to store them. Everything likely won't fit under your bathroom sink, so consider available pantries, closets, and drawers, storing the frequently used items in easily accessible spaces, and the less frequently used items in storage spots.

There's no need to spend a fortune to get yourself organized; there are some great inexpensive items available right in your local dollar store.

I recently made a trip out to my local dollar store looking for organizer bins with handles for my cosmetics; my shopping trip was a success and I left the store with five pink wire baskets with handles and two green plastic baskets with handles. My total bill for all these handy dollar store organizer items was $7. That's a shopping trip I can feel good about.

Now I have two plastic, waterproof organizer baskets perfect for storing items that may get wet in the bathroom, and five wire baskets for storage use in other rooms.

When shopping for organizer bins be sure to consider size needs, space efficiency, and what type of material the bins are made out of. You may want plastic waterproof bins for bathroom items and wicker or wire baskets for some other items.

In addition, for space efficiency, you may want to get several of the same style of bin for small cosmetic items so that each bin can be filled and then stacked one on top of the other.

From there, the rest is your personal style choice.

Step four is the easiest, because by this point you've already done all the hard work. Now all you need to do is place your cosmetics in your new dollar store organizer bins and step back and marvel at how organized you are. Doesn't it feel good to have a place for everything that is readily accessible and money left over?

I hope these tips have been helpful and that you'll have a blast organizing your cosmetics inexpensively.

Not a cosmetics fiend, but I could probably apply something like this to my tack locker at the barn.
