When you have a small space for an office be it in your home or other location, efficiency and organization is key. Knowing where things are and keeping what you need accessible to you guaranties organization just when you need it. Here are a few tips to keep your office organized so you can stay productive at all times.

• Make sure that all papers have their own home. It may be a file in a drawer or it may be a basket on your desk for quick referencing.

• Toss the stuff that is not needed right away. Throwing out the unneeded paper can be a great feeling, and will get rid of clutter around your office.

• Keep a specific place for all bills. As soon as you have paid the bill, file the paperwork that is left. By taking this simple step when you will be able to find all the needed paperwork, at crucial time such as income tax time.

• Use a desk that has plenty of drawers and compartments for organizing. If you need more drawers for files consider getting a plastic file cabinet with wheels. With a portable file cabinet you can roll it under your desk or into a closet to give you more floor space.

• Store as much as possible on your computer. Making your computer work for you in this way will minimize the paper that needs to be filed and stored, and maximize your small office space.

Organization is one key to success! I am totally organized all the time and I couldn't function if I wasn't.

Wonderful suggestions. My office is so bad I keep my cat's litter box in the corner. I'm going to start by getting rid of all the paper, plus I need to find a place to store all those used books. Thanks again for the tips.
