How to Organize a Successful Group Yard Sale

Sophie
Group yard sales are growing in popularity. Some people just prefer to get together with family and friends and host a yard sale that includes items from more than one person. There are many benefits in doing this. Here some ways in which you can organize a successful group yard sale.

How to organize a successful group yard sale #1 Choose where to host the yard sale

When more than one person will be hosting a yard sale, it is important to decide early on where it will be held. Who has the most space to work with? You must consider the logistics of having a group yard sale, such as where all the tables will go and whether or not the items will be combined or sold separately from separate tables. It is easier to separate items, so that everyone knows what is theirs and how much they have made.

How to organize a successful group yard sale #2 Give each other advice

One of the benefits of having a group yard sale is the fact that you can give and take advice. Some people need help in pricing certain items. Others want to know how to display certain items for best effect. Friends and family members can help to do that.

How to organize a successful group yard sale #3 Storing items

A group of friends and family may decide to store all of the items in someone's home until the day of the yard sale. This will work out well, because then everyone can set up together on the day. They just need to show up at a certain time and they can join in with everyone else's efforts.

How to organize a successful group yard sale #4 Joint resources

Resources can be shared between different ones during a joint yard sale. Some people may be able to provide the tables, others the advertising materials. Combining these resources will help to increase sales and make the yard sale go better. Help each other out with the financial side of things too. Try to make sure you have money that has already been broken up into $1, $5, $10, $20 bills and lots of change too. You know there is bound to be at least one person who shows up with a $50 bill who only buys an item that costs $1! So help each other out if you need to so that this does not create too much of a problem.

How to organize a successful group yard sale #5 You are not alone!

As we have already mentioned, setting up a single yard sale can be a little dull. But if you join others in their effort to sell items, you can chat and socialize when there are no customers present. The day will then go by more quickly and you are more likely to enjoy the event.

How to organize a successful group yard sale #6 Tell a wider audience

People are often attracted to group yard sales because there is more variety and things to see. If everyone tells at least one person, then word will quickly spread and there will hopefully be a larger turn out. Do not forget other friends and family members. With group yard sales, you can also buy and sell from among your own group yard sale too. I'll be having a group yard sale soon and I already have items reserved to sell.

Above all, have fun at your group yard sale. Have a chat with your friends and relatives, who are joining you and you will find that this will be a memorable experience for you.

I prefer neighborhood yard sales, too. I stink at having my own garage sale, so maybe a group one would be the way to go.

I know I prefer a neighborhood yard sale rather than going all over town to individual sales. Great tips!

I know exactly where it should be held- anywhere but my house. :)
