Books on the Recession

Since 2006, I have seen everyone strive through this recent slump in our economy. Keeping my head above water, a lot of my associates, friends and family have asked me how I can do this being a single father. They see me paying bills on time, getting better cars, and living a lifestyle that I didn't even dream about five years ago, when the economy wasn't as bad as it is today. As our economy plunders, books pertaining to exactly what is going on have been published. Being an avid reader and a big fan of the library, I have studied a series of books and novels that have been published recently about this subject, and found out which ones work the best; not just for me, but for anyone, and so far to date, this is definitely the top four:

1. What to Do When the Economy Sucks. This book, written by Peter sander, is by far the top dog. Mr. Sander gives you tips on not only ways you can hang onto your job, but also writes on what is the best route to take to hold onto your job, your house, or your lifestyle. This book best describes the best route to take if you lose any of the three also. Written more by common sense than brilliance, he explains the "Art of hanging on" during a time when the economy just sucks. A must read.

2. The Origin of Financial Crisis. Written by George Cooper, this book doesn't get as personal, going into detail how an economy as a whole can crash. This is also a great learning tool when it comes to explaining the definition of words and their terminology. This book explains what central banks are, what makes them spin, and how America is having a financial crisis. Read into the world of credit bubbles, the efficient market fallacy and our financial market machine. A little harder to read at first, you will not be disappointed at what the author is trying to explain.

3. Can I Pay my Credit Card Bill With a Credit card? Written by Mary Hunt, bestselling author, columnist, and one who has been down the road in debt herself. She definitely wrote a top notch book depicts a lot of questions one normally would have a hard time asking. In fact, the subtitle states; "And Other Financial Questions We're Too Embarrassed to Ask". She answers a lot of credit card, bank, loan and bankruptcy questions one would have but would not otherwise ask. Her true-to-form analysis on giving you the straight talk with no sideline bull will have a lot of people with their eyes open once they read the book. All uneasy questions are answered, including some like, "How can I get out of credit card debt? ", "Should I close down an old credit card", and "Which bills should I pay off first If I can't pay them all?". She even gives you a way to contact her so you can ask questions yourself.

4. The Automatic Millionaire. A book written by David Bach detailing the easiest way to become not just financially wealthy, but how you can become an automatic millionaire by paying yourself first, how to own a home debt-free, and brilliantly written, the latte factor. His book has a variety of work in it including a true story about the Mcintyres, an older couple who have took on a few basic steps of life and became rich by following the simplest of rules. A helpful book that also pertains to some of his own students and their real life situations in the financial world.

Remember, you are definately not alone during these trying times. The economy of 2008 to the present has affected Everyone, even the people who do have money. Spend a little time into reading one or more of these books and you can at least understand what you need to do.

Good luck and GOD bless
