1. Add Some New Color
One of the most noticeable ways to make over a room is to change the wall color. If you do not want to paint the whole room, painting one wall as an accent wall can also make a great deal of difference. Not sure what colors to pick for a spring painting? Here are some great spring color choices to makeover any room. Yellows, bright blue, lime green, violet, coral, turquoise, eggplant, crimson red, fuchsia, grays and gold mine.
2. Pick Stripes
Stripes are a very popular spring look. If you decide to paint your walls, painting stripes would be a great idea. Striped curtains are another great, simple change that can be made. The entire curtain does not have to be striped; an irregular pattern sometimes looks better depending on the room.
3. Throw Pillows
Throw pillows may be a small accessory to a room, but they can make a big change when making over a room. Pastel colored pillows are very springy as well as bold colors pillows although neutrals work just as well. Pick pillows that have some design to them or shapes, something that complement the room in a spring way, or you could choose ones completely different for a more dramatic change.
4. Area and Floor Rugs
Adding a throw rug to a room, or replacing the one you already have, is another simple and relatively inexpensive way to give your home a spring makeover. Earth tones rugs with designs are lovely, but do not be afraid to throw in a splash of color as well.
5. Spring Cleaning
Cleaning is always the best way to makeover a home and a good Spring cleaning is perfect for a Spring home makeover. Clean everything; get rid of all that dust even in the unseen areas like on the top of the fridge. Wash all rugs and curtains as well. With a little bit of elbow grease and some good music, you will have the house looking great before you know it.
6. Give Old Furniture a New Look
Give a piece of old furniture a new look. Remember that old wooden desk or table you have just sitting and a room. Get it out, sand it down and give it a new stain or fresh coat of paint. A simple change to something you already have can make for an easy makeover to any room. Another idea would be to add new fabric to lamp shades, or spray paint them. Slipcovers do wonders for sofas and chairs and in today's market there are many styles to pick from.
7. Move Stuff Around
Rearranging some furniture you already have is simple and probably the cheapest way to a spring home makeover. Switching around a room or two can add a whole new feel to a place. Have fun with were you put stuff, just because something has a back on it does not mean that it has to go against a wall.
8. New Lighting
Adding new lighting to a room will definitely change the way the room is seen. Mix and match lamps in a room, change the ceiling light globs or maybe even install ceiling light and fan fixtures. Pick fixtures that provide great, bright light, not clouded and dim. There are hundreds of styles and designs to choose from. A great spring light fixture could include stained glass flowers, frosted in parts but not all over, colored or simply clear and bright.
9. Wall Decor
Hanging some wall decor such as photos, posters or mirrors can give a room an instant makeover. Add some spring art such as something to do with nature, and outdoor family portrait, perhaps even a picture of the Easter Bunny with his eggs. Keep the wall hanging fun and cheering. Mirrors are also great for a spring makeover. They often give the appearance the small rooms are bigger than they are. If you paint that small room a lovely spring color and hang a mirror, image how big that room will look.
10. Yard Work
One of the most noticeable spring home makeovers that one could do would be outside work. Everyone sees the outside of your home, your lawn, house paint, roof, flowers and fixing them up will make a huge improvement and you will feel better every time you arrive home. Add some potted plants to your porch, deck, patio or steps. Keep your lawn maintained and hedges in order weekly to make it easier on yourself. Tend to that garden, get out those weeds, dig up the soil and get some flower or veggie seeds in it. A garden is a favorite when it comes to spring home makeovers and then tend to be very calming.
