Congratulations. But the exciting and wonderful feeling does not last long; you start to feel stressful after the excited moment.
As a new mother, you are so used to the life where there is always companion from the moment of delivery. Normally, hospital doesn't give you much help or advice and you get back home with your baby with an array of demands that you got to learn and try to interpret. Babies, normally have short sleeping cycles where they will sleep and wake up within short cycles. This will obstruct you from having enough and sufficient rest while taking care of your newborn.
You will easily feel stressful after delivery because you are experiencing hormonal changes in your body. The hormonal changes in the body will easily grant you a formula that leads to stressful life. During the first few months, where baby has not settles into a sleeping routine, as a mother you probably will never get a full night's sleep.
Let me share with you some tips on how to overcome and get more sleep time during the first few months where your baby has not get a stable sleeping routine.
Don't ever try to be a supermom because you are not super women. When the baby goes down for a nap, take a small nap for yourself. Do not bother for all the laundry and dishes as all this can be done later on. You do not need to clean and maintain your house until super clean. There will be time for those entire thing, make sure you have enough and sufficient break whenever you get the chance.
It will be an added advantage if you are staying near to your mom, As normally, grandma will jump at the chance to have the baby all to herself for a few hours. It will be better if you have friend or relative who offer to help you out. Do not hesitate to get some help from them especially for first time mothers. You can take the opportunity to rest when they are helping out.
At the night time, when you are putting baby to bed give yourself some time to distress and relax in order for you to have a better chance of falling asleep. You can try to enjoy your bath with scented lavender as this will help to distress your body. Putting on some soft or jazz music will aid your and baby to fall asleep.
Whenever you feel stress and tire, try to get yourself some sleep by asking help from the others, Remember do not try to be a supermom.
