How to Overcome Writer's Block

I Have Writer's Block - Now What?

Melissa B
Keeping up with writing on Associated Content can be tricky. I have found out that writer's block is not a myth, but rather a real problem with mind boggling serious blanks. Although talking on my phone all day would not be hard for me to accomplish, figuring out what I am going to write on Associated Content for the night seems to be a problem. Writing on Associated Content wasn't hard when I only had twenty articles out. There was a whole lot to say and write about, and I was only getting on periodically to write on Associated Content too. Now that I have made a commitment to produce about twenty articles a week - well I am now struggling to come up with ideas!

So I decided to cruise the search bar on Associated Content and find some great articles with tips from producers just like me who have beaten the writer's block! What did I find? I am glad you asked!

I found this article by Mary Lake, Stop Writers Block and Start Writing to be helpful. In it, Mary spells out some simple tactics that can help get you in the writer's flow again. Michelle L Devon, AKA Michy has also written an exceptional piece on overcoming writer's block. Her article titled Ten Tips for Overcoming Writer's Block! is a must read for all freelance writers, especially those writing on Associated Content. Annette Bookdrawer also has some clever ideas in her article; What to Do when You Have Writer's Block.

I have also came up with my own system which I find to be helpful. If I can not think of anything to write about, I scan my house for something to review. I look in my kitchen cabinets, bathroom, kids room...just about anywhere to find a product that I can rant or rave about. I offer my readers first hand knowledge on products they may be interested in. You never know what people are looking for a review on, so go for it. I find that it is helpful to include all pros and cons about the product as well as suggested retail and where to buy information.

I also turn on the television for a bit and try to find inspiration and motivation to write. maybe the news will have a story that gives me an idea, or perhaps I will see something that will turn the bright light on in my head! I also find it helpful to search the pages of Associated Content for wisdom, motivation and ideas. I have a notebook handy and create lists of ideas with bullet points to make my pieces come together quickly.

I have found that as a writer, there are many nights I can just type away without a second thought. I even come back to some of my articles and can't believe how well written they are. Then there are those nights when I can not get one article out and everything I type, just comes out wrong. That's when these tips will help you come out of your dreaded writer's block. Writing on Associated Content can be profitable and offers exposure, so don't give up and keep working at it.

In addition to my article and these other well written articles, I highly encourage you to search out articles written by other Associated Content Producers. These authors on Associated Content have been in your shoes and are speaking from first hand experience about many of the same common issues you are facing in your darkest writer's block hour!

I always find articles of successful content producers helpful in motivating me to keep it up, so hopefully my article Why This Stay At Home Mom Writes for Associated Content helps get you in gear!
