You'll need:
- 2 yards of a desired material; the best type of material is suede, but cotton would also be fine
- Matching thread
- Sewing needle
- 1 lb of flax seed
- 1 knee high stocking
- Lavender oil or sage oil
- 3 Peppermint tea bags or 3chamomile tea bags
- 1 piece of Velcro (both sides)
Here's how it's done:
Step 1: Take the material that you've chosen and (if it's thin you might want to double layer, but if it's thick you can just use one layer) fold it to create a rectangle shape.
Step 2: cut the material down to the size that you want your neck wrap to be.
Step 3: Sew by hand or by your sewing machine around entire rectangle, leaving the top open for stuffing.
Step 4: Flip the wrap inside out.
Step 5: In a mixing bowl, combine the 1 pound of flax seed and your desired tea bags, plus a few drops of the aromatherapy oil you have chosen. Mix this all together thoroughly.
Step 6: Grab your knee high stock, and cut the stocking down to the size of your neck wrap. Stuff the mixture into the stocking and tie a knot at the end of the stocking to keep all of the flax seed and aromatherapy parts inside.
Step 7: Place the stuffed stocking into the neck wrap.
Step 8: Fold the open part of the neck wrap over to lay flat against the rest of the neck wrap. Apply Velcro to the top of the opened part of the neck wrap, and then apply the other side of the Velcro to the part on the neck wrap that it comes face to face with when folded over. This way your neck wrap will be sealed shut, but can be opened if you want to change the stuffing.
Now that you've finished your neck wrap, you can place it in the microwave for about 3 minutes, and place it around your neck. After that, it's all about watching your stress melt away.
Another great use for this neck wrap is giving it as a gift. These great neck wraps make for a wonderful birthday or holiday gift. They're easy to make, not too costly and it gives your gift a personal touch.
