Money saved is money earned - thus goes the old adage; it is very true. You can save a lot if you cut down your energy consumption. You are used to several electrical gadgets and do not think that you can do without them. They all run on electricity and you foot the huge bill.

Energy can be tapped from alternative sources like solar, wind or hydro power. If you can manage to tap your energy requirements from these sources you can save money paying less on your electricity bill. Besides that you save the environment since none of them emit any pollutant. Wind and solar energy are usually used for running house hold appliances. Hydropower can be used provided you have the access; say you reside near a river.

Energy from renewable sources has many plus points. It does not generate any byproduct or pollutants and never get depleted. The maintenance required for the equipments to convert this energy into electricity is very less.

Now let us see how to use solar energy. Obviously you need to collect the energy from the sun and to do so you need to have solar panels or a collection of solar cells. The solar energy gets converted into electricity and stored in batteries for use in future. If you have DC appliances they can be run directly from batteries. For your AC appliances you need have a converter to convert DC electricity to AC electricity. Then you can run your AC appliances sourcing electricity from battery. The solar cells are sturdy and rarely breakdowns. They need little maintenance unlike batteries as their distill water level requires to be checked and maintained regularly for keeping them active.

Generators run with wind power require construction of the tower and fan initially. Wind energy collected and converted into electricity is stored in the batteries and further used in the same way as stated above. Similar device can be used for pumping water. Only thing you need a mechanism to disengage it when your water tank is full.

Electricity generated thus can be connected to your local grid and you can sell them or you can buy through the same connection when you need power. So, selling excess power would fetch you money.

Does it sound interesting generating electricity on your own for your energy requirement or saving money? And you can earn by selling excess power too!
