Simple napkin rings are everywhere. Think outside the box to see ordinary things as creative table décor for your 4th of July gathering. You can go green by reusing the materials too.

Many napkin ring crafts are possible. The first one is easy for most school children. The second requires learning how to braid three strands and tiny fingers will need help with knots and guidance once the project begins. The third style uses plastic and I will make them this year for the first time.

1. Toilet Paper and Paper Towel Napkin Rings are simplest. They adapt well for table décor for other holidays too.

Materials Needed:

Empty toilet paper or paper towel rolls as many as you might need.
Pencil Ruler Scissors
Glue, like the white pasty Elmer's kind
Clear sticky tape
One can of spray paint, or tempura paint.
(Choose an accent with red or blue or keep them subtle with white.)
(If you choose the spray paint, which offers a glossy finish, supervise children during its use.)
Crayons or Non-toxic Markers
Ribbons, cloth strips, strips of colored paper or string( red, white and blue preferred)
Newspapers to cover the working area on your table, floor or patio.
Waxed paper
Wet wipes for spills and cleaning up hands and mistakes

What to do?

Measure the cardboard rolls tand carefully cut into 1 inch rings, using pencil, ruler and scissors.
Paint the rings.
Leave time for the paint to dry.
Decide how to decorate the rings and assemble the parts you need.
Children prefer to create their own designs. Everyone person can take their own napkin ring
home as a favor from the Fourth of July gathering.
Cut strings and ribbons to the desired lengths for each design while the paint is drying.

Singing "Yankee Doodle Dandy" or other patriotic songs adds festive atmosphere while waiting.
When the paint has dried, arrange and glue the decorations in place. The central focus is the
red, white and blue theme for the 4th of July .
Set the finished napkin rings on waxed paper while the decorations dry.
Clean up. Insert paper or cloth napkins and enjoy the party.

2. Braided Napkin Rings are simple once you collect long and sturdy round stems.
Three round stems, like daisy stems will braid well and the daisies make an interesting accent.
Weaving the ends together will complete the natural napkin ring.

3. Plastic Drink Napkin Rings use the rings from the lids of water or juice or pop containers.
They can be combined or used alone. If they had to be cut from the container, you will need a something like a hot glue gun to reconnect them.
Be sure to supervise.
Tying or weaving multiple rings together with red, white or blue ribbons will give unique accents to your table décor for the Fourth of July.
