How to Make Your Own Hand Cream and Hand Lotion

Bev Cohen
We all know that our hands show our age. Taking proper care of our hands is an important part of any beauty regimen. Keeping our hands moisturized will help prevent the loose and wrinkled skin that comes with aging. Store-bought hand creams and lotions abound. The problem is that most of these products contain chemicals to help preserve them which is not something our skin needs. The recipes in this article are homemade and natural and don't take much effort to make. Check out these wonderful hand cream and lotion recipes that you can make at home.

Almond Hand Cream Recipe

Ingredients:

1/4 cup of beeswax

1/2 cup of almond oil

1/2 cup of coconut oil

1/4 cup of rosewater

Melt the beeswax in a pan or double boiler (double boiler works best so the heat is not so intense). Once the beeswax is melted, mix in the almond oil and coconut oil. Next, add the rosewater and stir until well mixed. Pour the hand cream into an appropriate container (not plastic) while it is hot and it will harden as it cools. This all natural hand cream feels fantastic on your hands and smells great!

Cocoa Butter Hand Cream Recipe

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons of beeswax

3 tablespoons of cocoa butter

3 tablespoons of almond oil

Using a pan or double boiler, mix together the beeswax and cocoa butter until melted. Add almond oil and mix until smooth. Pour into a jar or appropriate container. The cream will harden as it cools. This hand cream feels like a spa treatment on your hands.

Honey and Banana Hand Lotion Recipe

Ingredients:

1 banana

1 teaspoon honey

1 tablespoon butter or margarine (softened or melted)

Mash the banana very well. Add the honey and butter or margarine. Blend well. Put the lotion into a container. Apply this lotion to your hands. Leave on for 1/2 hour. It works well to cover your hands with gloves while the lotion is doing its magic. Rinse the lotion off completely. Your hands will feel so soft and smooth that you'll think the lotion is still on them!
