How to Make Your Own Homemade Kitchen Themed Gift Sets

Gift sets are fun to give and wonderful to receive. Gift sets usually consist of several theme related items put together into a container. Many retail stores sell pre-made gift sets that can sometimes be quite pricey. They are also usually mass produced making them less personal. By creating your own homemade gift sets to give you can save money and create something that shows you put some thought into the gift. One gift set idea would be ones that correlate with a kitchen theme. Here are some ways you can make your own homemade kitchen themed gift sets to give to your friends or family.

You can create a gift set using a frying pan as your container. You can include special cooking wines for the cook to deglaze their pan with or special oils to fry their food in. Lay the bottles of wine or oil flat in your pan and wrap the pan with plastic wrap. For Christmas you could wrap the pan with green or red colored plastic wrap for a festive touch. You can also line the bottom of the frying pan with a decorative kitchen towel or rag before placing the items inside. This makes for a nice little decorative touch and keeps the bottom of the pan from becoming scratched.

Many people enjoy creating different scrapbooks to hold their special memories in. You can create a scrapbook using your favorite recipes along with pictures of the finished product. This would make a great gift for Mothers or Fathers to give to their adult children. You can include recipes for family favorites that your adult children have been asking about. They will surely appreciate this type of gift. By creating a scrapbook with your recipes, special notes you wish to include, and pictures of the finished recipes you are creating a family heirloom that can be handed down through the generations. While this may not technically count as a gift set, it is a gift that contains a "set" of recipes that are special to you and your family.

People use pitchers all the time in their kitchens. Pitchers can be found in many themes making them great decorative items for anyone's kitchen. Pitchers can be used as a vase for flowers or even serve as a utensils holder. They also make for a great container option for your kitchen themed gift set. You can fill it with different utensils for a new cook. You could also fill the pitcher with individually wrapped biscotti and a box of tea bags. One other option would be to fill a non-decorative pitcher with items for making homemade lemonade. You can include lemons, sugar poured into a small plastic candy gift bag tied closed with a ribbon, and something to stir with. You could also include plastic ice cubes in different colors or shapes to cool the lemonade with.

There are many uses for a pot in the kitchen. While most people have plenty of pots, those who are newly on their own may need a few. Using a pot as your container, you can give those with new independence a gift set full of kitchen basics. Items such as wooden spoons, measuring cups, oven mitts, a timer, an apron, a meat thermometer, and more are items that every cook should have in their kitchen. You could also include a recipe book for beginners to help the newly independent person learn how to cook.

Wearing an apron while cooking can help you to avoid staining your clothes. Aprons with pockets are even better, allowing you to keep utensils handy while cooking. The pockets are also useful for holding items for your gift set. You can stuff just about anything into these pockets as long as they will fit. Different cooking oils, wines, and vinegars would be one great option. If you want to give an apron that doesn't have pockets you can still include it as part of a gift set. Fold the apron and place folded kitchen towels, dish rags, and oven mitts on top, all of which share the same pattern and/or theme. Tie them altogether with a ribbon, if desired, and place them into a clothing gift box and wrap. You can make this gift even more personal by sewing the apron yourself. You can find a fabric that matches your gift recipient's kitchen theme to create the apron with.

One last idea would consist of a make-it-yourself gift kitchen themed gift set. This gift set would be perfect for those who enjoy experimenting in the kitchen and making their own specialty sauces and oils. You can include fresh herb plants, clear bottles with screw on caps, bottles of oil and vinegar, dried chiles, and other such things. Include instructions on how your guest can make their own flavored vinegars and oils. You can also give a make it yourself hot cocoa gift set. Include a box of cocoa, sugar packets, chocolate dipped spoons, crushed peppermint candies or candy canes, cinnamon sticks, and anything else that can help your gift recipient create their own custom mug of hot cocoa. Include different hot cocoa recipes for your gift recipient to try. You can also create a gift basket filled with different jar mixes for things like cocoa, cakes, and cookies. Include instructions on how to make each one along with your jars. You can use a large mixing bowl as your container for the jars instead of a basket for a nice touch.

Creating your own homemade kitchen themed gift sets provides you with the opportunity to get creative and put some thought into the gift you give. Your gift recipients are sure to enjoy these kitchen themed gift sets and will appreciate the effort you put into creating one for them.
