If you are trying to save as much as you can in today's economy you might turn to making your own products. Toothpaste is one thing that is really easy to start with. Give it a try, I'll bet you'll be surprised!

What you need:

4 tsp of baing soda

1 tsp of salt

1 tsp flavoring (vanilla, almond, or peppermint extract)

Your toothbruchs

Air-tight Container for storage.

What you do:

1. Mix the ingredients together to make the paste.

2. Use a pea sized amount of toothpaste for each brushing.

3. Always monitor your children when toothbrushing, the same rules apply for ingestion! Don't let your kiddos swallow any toothpaste!

Dentists recommend that you brush your teeth for at least a minute. If you have children in the home, it is recommended that you come up with a way to hep your children brush their teeth for a minimum of 1-2 minutes. You can do this easily by coming up with a song that your child can hum while they brush their teeth.

Remember to brush your teeth at least twice per day. Brush in the morning before starting your day, and again in the evening before retiring to bed. If you can, brush your teeth in between meals. You can accomplish this by carrying a travel toothbrush in your purse, or leaving one in your locker at work. Your homemade toothpaste can go anywhere you go, provided it is stored in an air-tight container at all times. Do not forget to close the container after every use to ensure freshness!
