How to Make Your Own "Kill Bill" Costume

Director Quentin Tarantino is known for his very over-the-top and gory action sequences and characters. The movies "Kill Bill Vol. 1" (2003) and "Kill Bill Vol. 2" (2004) are two examples of films that are wildly popular with Tarantino fans. If you're attending a Halloween party or a costume party and would like to dress as Beatrix Kiddo or Elle Driver, you can put together such costumes easily with items purchased at thrift stores or costume stores.

"Kill Bill" Costume: "Black Mamba/The Bride/Beatrix Kiddo": Uma Thurman plays "The Bride" in both movies. Her character comes out of a coma and realizes that the baby she was pregnant with when she was the target of an assassination plot on her wedding day is gone. She seeks out for revenge against the assassanation team that she was once part of, led by Bill (David Carradine). The Bride's signature costume is a bright yellow athletic style suit and Onitsuka Tiger tennis shoes. While there are pre-made costumes available, if you can find a yellow zip up athletic jacket and yoga pants with a black stripe down the sides, you could save some money. The Bride was a blond with bangs and slightly wavy hair. Carry a prop sword to complete this look.

"Kill Bill" Costume: "Elle Driver/California Mountain Snake": Daryl Hannah plays another member of Bill's killing squad who , like Beatrix, was his mistress. Elle also studied under Pai Mei, but he plucked one of her eyes out after she disprespected him, causing her to wear an eye patch. One of Elle's most memorable costumes is the nurse's outfit she wears when she sneaks into the hospital to try to kill Beatrix with a deadly poison. To recreate this costume, find a fitted white nurse's dress and cap. You'll also need a white eye patch with a red cross to wear over your right eye. If you only have a white patch, paint the cross on it with fabric paint or glue two strips of red felt. Carry a prop syringe filled with a red substance. Elle had long, blond, layered hair. If you have the length, create waves by wrapping one inch sections of your hair around the barrel of a curling iron and then tousle the waves with your fingers once your hair has cooled off.
