Make your trips to the salon a thing of the past and just think of the money you will save.Throw out those razors and say goodbye to those cuts and nicks. Make your own leg products for smooth and silky legs.

All Natural Leg Wax (Sugaring)
Sugar Leg Wax

2 C sugar
1/4 C lemon juice
1/4 C water
2 tbsp vegetable glycerin
waxing cloth strips (available at drugstore) or you can use strips of linen cut to the size of these strips
wooden popsicle sticks (to stir the wax and to apply)
Directions - Combine all ingredients in a saucepan. Stir frequently while heating to 250 degrees F or softball stage. Pour into plastic container with a lid. The plastic container makes it possible to warm the mixture in the microwave, when you are ready to use it.

To use the Sugar Wax
Heat in the microwave for ten seconds on high. Using a wooden stir stick, stir very well. It should be warm but not HOT. Please be very careful when heating up the wax. If the wax isn't warm enough, place it back in the microwave for five more seconds, and stir again. Lightly powder the area to be treated. Spread a thin layer of the wax on in the same direction as the hair grows. Apply the waxing cloth strip over the applied wax, and rub down well to get the wax to stick to the cloth. Pull your skin taut, and in one quick motion pull the fabric off of your skin against the direction of hair growth. Repeat procedure until finished. When you're done waxing, rub in lotion, aloe vera gel or oil to soothe your legs.

You can reuse the homemade wax strips again. Just soak them in soapy water to dissolve the sugar and then toss in with your normal wash.

Skin Softening Solution
2 ounces of aloe vera
2 tablespoons Apricot kernel oil - or high quality light oil
1/2 teaspoon fragrance oil - such as Cucumber Melon or Citrus Splash
1/2 teaspoon vitamin E oil
4 to 6 oz. container with a lid
Directions - Put all of the ingredients into the container. Use a fork to mix.The lotion will go through a few changes before it is completely mixed. When you first mix the lotion it will be thin, but keep mixing for at least 5 minutes. If it is starting to look even more unblended that's o.k. This is the sign that it is almost done. The lotion will start to get a milky white appearance with a slight green hue and turn into a wonderful blended lotion. The ingredients used in this lotion will have your skin feeling baby soft.

Peppermint Oil for Legs
1/2 cup soy oil
4 drops peppermint essential oil
Directions - Combine the oils in a container with a lid. Massage into the legs and be sure to include the feet..
Peppermint is an anti-inflammatory with decongesting and soothing properties. Soy oil is used because it absorbs more quickly into the skin. This recipe gives relief for tired legs.
DO NOT, use this massage oil directly after waxing. The peppermint will cause a burning sensation. Wait until the following day.

I hope you enjoy making your own leg care products. These can be bottled and tied with pretty ribbons and tags for gift giving.
