Melaleuca can be used as a natural disinfectant, anti-fungal and antiseptic. Therefore, it makes a great ingredient to use to clean your house and clothes. Many people spend a lot of money to purchase cleaning items made with melaleuca. What many of these people do not know is melaleuca is also known as tea tree oil.
Products advertising Melaleuca can be extremely expensive whereas tea tree oil purchased in a single jar is much less expensive. A few drops of tea tree oil goes a long way.
If you want to clean your house and clothes with tea tree oil, the first step is to purchase a bottle of tea tree oil. Next, use a few drops of tea tree oil in your laundry every time you wash. There are on-line recipes for homemade laundry detergents if you wish to make your own or you can purchase your own laundry detergent. Regardless of what laundry detergent you use, tea tree oil will disinfect your clothes (and make them smell fresh) by simply adding a few drops. You can also remove smells from your laundry by adding a little vinegar and prevent clothes from bleeding on one another by adding salt.
Finally use the tea tree oil to clean by adding a few drops to homemade cleaners. You can find several homemade cleaner recipes on-line by doing a quick Google search. Many of the cleaners use items like vinegar, baking soda, water, and lemon juice. By adding tea tree oil, you can add a disinfectant quality to your homemade cleaners.
Using tea tree oil instead of purchasing melaleuca based cleaning products will save you a large amount of money. If this article was informative to you, I would love to hear your comments below!
One final note: Tea Tree oil can be a little harsh on skin. Although some people recommend using for topical applications, I recommend not putting tea tree oil on skin often as it may cause a rash.
Here is a great website article called, "How to make a Non-Toxic Cleaning Kit". The author describes how to make an oven cleaner, a window cleaner, an all purpose cleaner, a furniture polish, a creamy scrub for the bathroom, and more. You can read the article here:
