Hand made Valentine's Day gifts are a great way to show someone how much you care about them on that special day. In addition to being able to give that special person a truly unique and thoughtful gift, making your Valentine's Day present helps you save money. There are many complicated Valentine's Day present, but the Valentine's Day Heart Pendant is a very simple project. The heart pendant project is a great Valentine's Day gift, and a very personal one because each person who makes one makes it their own.

Materials

-scissors

-red cardboard

-thin ribbon

-white sheet of paper

-pen or makers

-pencil

-glue

-toothpick or needle

Instructions

1. This pendant can actually be used as a necklace, although it will not look like real jewelry so depending on the person who receives it, it may or may not be worn for real. Even if you do not make it to be worn, it is still a great present because it can be used as a key chain, a bookmark, or simply hung as a decoration. Decide what you want it to be before you start any of the cutting so that you know what size to make your pendant.

2. Once you have decided how big you want to make your Valentine's Day pendant, trace an outline of a heart on the red cardboard paper. You can free hand the heart on the paper, you can use a stencil, you can fold the cardboard in half and draw one side, or whatever way works for you. When you have outline your heart, cut it out.

3. Now take the white sheet of paper and fold it accordion style. Use the red cardboard heart as guideline for your white hearts, they should be a little bit smaller than the red heart. Since the white sheet will be folded, you need to draw only half of the heart on one side of the sheet. When you cut it out, it will produce an identical side, which will form the heart. Once you have drawn one of the sides of the heart, keep the paper folded, and cut along the line you have drawn.

4. If you did the last step right, you should be able to unfold the paper and get a string of hearts. If you have done this incorrectly, you will need to start over.

5. On the string of hearts, write something for the person who you will give the Valentine to. It can be a story, a poem, a quote, or just a letter, this part is what makes it so unique and personal so it's completely up to you.

6. Now, put glue on the first and last heart in the series of white hearts. Glue the first heart to one side of the larger, red heart and the last heart to the other side.

7. Once the two pieces have been assembled, use the toothpick or needle to poke a hole at the top of the red heart. String the ribbon through the hole and you have your Valentine's Day heart pendant.
