How to Make Your Own Pirate Birthday Party Invitations

Pirate themed birthday parties are a great idea, because from the buried treasure hunt to the gold coin party favors and a parrot piƱata, there are a number of great ideas that can be incorporated. To start designing your pirate birthday party, you will need to make your own pirate birthday party invitations. Here are a couple ideas to get you started.

Pirate Birthday Party Invitation: Treasure Chest

One idea for a pirate birthday party invitation is to design it as a treasure chest that the receiver opens to find all the information about the birthday party. To do this, you will want a black piece of paper, some small gold (yellow) paper cutouts, and another bold color of paper to contain the party details on time and place.

To make the treasure chest pirate invitation, fold down the top 2-3 inches of the paper, and then fold up the bottom of the paper to meet that seam, making a sort of treasure chest on the front. Glue a few gold coins near the seam to make it look like gold is spilling out of the treasure chest. When the recipient opens up the top of the treasure chest (and eventually the bottom), they will find the party information inside.

You can either write the party information on a piece of paper that is glued into the pirate chest, or type it in a word processing program and print it on the paper. Of course, embellishments can be added inside as well, including pirate cutlasses, parrots, ships, and flags.

Pirate Birthday Party Invitation: Treasure Map

Another great pirate birthday party invitation idea is to make a treasure map invitation. You can either purchase tan-stained paper or stain your own with coffee, and then cut or burn the edges to give it an old feel.

Each map can be made a little different, but they should contain various dotted lines, land and ocean, a ship, and an X somewhere. Bits of information about the party can be written in different places on the map, maybe even in pirate lingo if you are feeling creative.
