How to Make Your Own Shrek Birthday Party Invitations

Many children of all ages enjoy the Shrek character and movies, and Shrek makes a great birthday party theme that will need unique invitations. Thankfully, it is very easy to make your own birthday party invitations around a Shrek theme, and you don't even need many supplies or much artistic talent.

Shrek Birthday Party Invitations: Supplies and Materials

To make your own Shrek birthday party invitations, you will definitely need paper. Depending on how you want to do it, you will either need just a lot of green paper, or white paper as well to glue the Shrek face onto the front of the invitation and write the info inside.

You will also need basic craft supplies, such as scissors, glue, thin point felt tip markers, and googly eyes if you want to make them more realistic.

For envelopes, you can purchase basic envelopes at any office supply store, and many art stores as well. If you will be mailing the invitations, rectangular envelopes are best because they do not require extra postage, but if the Shrek birthday party invitations will be hand-delivered, square envelopes will probably work best with the ratio of the card.

Shrek Birthday Party Invitations: Basic Idea

The main way to make Shrek birthday party invitations is to cut out a big green face with funnel ears on the sides, and have that be on the front of the card. Thankfully, Shrek is such a recognizable character that you don't need perfect artistic skills to get the idea across. You can either make a stencil, or just do them by hand and have each Shrek be a little bit different.

Once you have the face shape, you can add a nose and mouth in black pen, and either googly eyes or cut-out white paper eyes with black pupils and glue those on. Other details are optional, depending on how artistic you are feeling. You could put earwax in his ear, or a big goofy grin instead of a simple smile.

Shrek Birthday Party Invitations: Finishing Touches

Once you have the Shrek face for the front of the invitation, you can either write the birthday party information directly on the face, or you can glue it to a white folded card and write or type the details inside. If you are feeling extra creative, you can include other characters on the Shrek birthday party invitation as well, like the gingerbread man, or even Donkey.
