How to Make Your Own Super Sexy Bikini

Barely There Swimming Suits Are in This Year and Making Your Own Suit is so Much Fun!

Linda Riggs
This summer it really doesn't matter what size or shape your body is. It's totally in style to sport sexy and barely there swimwear. Shopping for swimsuits can be an ordeal. It can be so much more fun to pick out your own fabric and make your own sexy bikini.

The movable triangle bikini style is the easiest to make and works for any body size or shape. The fun part about making the top is that you choose how big you want the triangles to be and how bare you dare to be. Here are the things you will need to make your own sexy swimming suit.

1. Two yards of whatever fabric you choose
2. Scissors
3. Tape Measure
4. Needle and Thread

Getting Started:
The first thing you will want to do is get some honest measurements of your body. Specifically, your chest just under your breasts, the length from just under your breast to whatever part of it you want to cover it up to. You will then want to get an honest measurement of your bottom from side to side and your front from edge to edge that you want to cover.

You'll start by cutting long lengths of thin material that you can roll up and sew shut to use as your ties to your sexy bikini top. You will need one long one that can fit around your chest measurement and still have plenty left over to tie. You will also need two lengths to add to the top of your breast triangles for the swimming suit top.

Roll the material and then sew it shut so that it can be pulled and twisted when you tie your swimming suit. It is important to sew these pieces tightly so they do not fall apart.

Choosing Material For Your Sexy Bikini:
There are so many places that you can go to choose material. I found some very interesting and unique materials here. Most craft stores and almost all Walmart stores carry a variety of materials as well.

The trend this year is to go as bare as possible so, you might want to consider a very sheer material or even something that is knitted. Consider how see through the material will be when wet when you choose it and how well it will hold up in the water.

If you choose to go with a material that is knitted, you might want to consider where the holes are and how big they are. Be as daring as you like this year. If you want to go with a very open sheer knitted fabric, do just that.

Cutting the Bikini Top Triangles:
It is time to lose the shy and really decide on how sexy you want to look wearing this suit. If you read fashion magazines, you will notice that all body shapes are encouraged to bare it all this year. Consider the size of your breasts and how much you really want to show off.

Cut your triangles leaving enough room across the long bottom edge to roll it up and sew it to itself for the strings to pass through. This also makes it possible for you to adjust the size of the triangles in and outward.

Sew the two roped pieces to the tops of your triangles. Be sure to use extra stitches and sew these pieces tight so that they do not fall apart during swimming. Thread your long piece through the bottom of your two top bikini triangles and you have already finished the top of your bikini.

Cutting the Bottom of the Bikini:
This is again the time to decide just how much you want to show off. You can literally make the bottoms to your suit with one cut . You will want to cut your bottoms the same shape as an hourglass with long enough handles on every corner to be the ties to your bikini bottoms.

You will also want to leave enough room to sew around the edges of the material to give your suit a very finished look. Remember that you can always cut a bit of the ties off if you make them too long and that is much easier than adding extra if you make them too short.

If you are a very shapely woman and find it more comfortable to cover your bottom , then do just that. You can even add a skirt to your bikini bottoms. You can always make your top extra see through or skimpy and keep your bottom a bit more covered.

The most important part is to have fun. Be unique and enjoy making your swimsuit as special as you are. Have fun at the pools and beaches this year. Enjoy the body you have and hold your head high as you show it off to the world.

If I can bear to bare it all, I'll use your splendid instructions for a bare-it-all bikini! (Don't hold your breath....)

I never would have thought of making my own bikini but why not? I better work on getting a super-sexy stomach before I make my super-sexy bikini though. :-)

Back in the mid-70s my BFF's mom made each of us our first bikinis. We both felt like we were finally 'young women' with the real 'bra cups' inside - although she padded them appropriately, so certain parts did not embarrass us in the cold Idaho lakes. LOL!
