How to Make Your Own Sushi Roll

Have you ever been to a great sushi restaurant? Do you really love sushi? Have you ever made your own sushi roll? Well if you've never made sushi rolls and you want to learn how, today is your lucky day. Here are step by step directions of how to make your own sushi roll and what you will need to buy to make it.

The first thing you need to do is to buy the ingredients needed to make the sushi roll. The basic ingredients you will need include white rice, seaweed, and some type of raw fish, avocado, and a cup of water. The main thing that you need to buy is a wooden sushi wrap roller. This is basically a series of flat wooden sticks put together that have great flexibility and can bend in any direction. The sushi roller is rectangular in shape to prevent and ingredients from falling off of the wrap.

The first step is to line the wooden sushi roller flat on the table. Make sure you have a cup of water ready on the table. First make sure to dampen your hands in the water. You need to make sure your hands are slightly wet so that the rice and other food ingredients do not stick to your hands. Make sure your hands aren't too wet because if they are, the sushi ingredients won't stick together.

Next take a long rectangular piece of seaweed and put it flat down on the sushi roller. Now use your hands and grab a handful of white rice. Smooth out the clump of white rice over the piece of seaweed, covering the entire surface area of the seaweed except for about 1 inch away from the outsides of the seaweed wrap.

Now you need to fill the inside of the sushi roll. Take a raw fish of your choice such as tuna or salmon or crab meat and spread it thinly in the middle of the rice which you have already laid down. You can also put some spices on top of the fish. Many people like putting avocado in their sushi roll as well which is prevalent among sushi restaurants. Put the avocado in the center of the rice, next to the raw fish. You should put any other ingredients that you want in your sushi in the middle of the rice at this time.

Now here comes the tricky part that most people have trouble with at first including me. You need to take both your hands and put them on the sushi roller all the way on one end. You want to roll the sushi roller without the food falling off of the sushi roller. This is very difficult and requires a lot of skill and experience. You need to quickly flip the sushi roller in a circular motion. Continue rolling the sushi wrap until the seaweed has completely come full circle and has turned into a circular shaped sushi wrap. Use a little bit of water to wrap each roll with the seaweed to hold all the ingredients together. Once you are done you can marvel at your work.
