How to Make Your Own Unique Gift Basket

Deciding on a gift for that special someone can often be a daunting task. How many times have you purchased a gift, not really sure it was a gift the receiver would even enjoy. Well I have some tips and ideas that I think may help. Most of us have a hobby or passion of some kind. We all have certain things we enjoy doing such as gardening, cooking, crafting, sports etc. If you know the person well enough you probably know their hobbies or habits, For those you don't know quite as well, often times you can find out through friends, co-workers or even through a casual conversation with the gift receiver themselves. You could bring up some of the things you enjoy doing in your spare time and ask them what they enjoy doing when their not so busy. Once you have this information the rest is easy. Below I have 10 unique ideas for how to make your own unique gift basket. You can tweak them to suit your needs or use them as guide.

The Gardener's Gift Basket

Use a large Terra cotta pot for a basket. If you like, you can personalize the pot by painting it with acrylic paints. When the paint is dry, spray a light coat of polyurethane over the pot to add a shine.

Fill the pot with:gardening gloves, hand trowel, hand rake, vegetable and/or flower seeds, bottle of liquid fertilizer and a gardening book

The Golf Lover's Gift Basket

Use a basket or a unique container of your choice.

Fill with: golf tees, golf balls, a baseball cap, sunscreen, score cards, a small towel and a can cooler to keep a can of soda cold. If you like you can even personalize the towel or baseball cap. You can either embroider or use fabric paints.

The Sports Enthusiast's Gift Basket

You can use a basket, baseball cap, football helmet or any unique container of choice

Fill with: sports cards, baseball, shoe, boot, gum, sports video, sports magazine and a sports poster.

The Crochet or Knitting Enthusiast's Gift Basket

You can use a basket, canvas tote or even a large plastic container with a lid.
Fill with: assorted needles or crochet hooks, assorted patterns, wool, buttons, ribbons and "made by" labels.

The Road Traveler's Gift Basket

Use a small drink cooler or tote bag.

Fill with:maps, travel mug, thermos, sunglasses, hotel coupons, vibrating cushion, recorded music on CD, car air freshener.

The Pasta Lover's Gift Basket

Use a large pasta bowl or a spaghetti pot.

Fill with:pasta tongs, a few varieties of pasta, a package of sun-dried tomatoes, spices: oregano, basil, garlic powder
and a pasta cookbook.

The Wine Appreciation Gift Basket

Use a basket or a container of your choice.

Fill with:two bottles of quality wine, one red, one white, corkscrew, 2 wine glass, book on wines, cheese, and crackers.

The New Home Owner's Gift Basket

Use a tool box as a basket.

Fill with: screw drivers, hammer, pliers, tape measure, stud finder, picture hangers, assorted nails, screws and a do it yourself book

The Doggy Gift Basket

Use a large dog bowl.

Fill with:A dog toy, rawhide bone, dog brush, dog treats, dog collar, leash

The Cookie Lover's Gift Basket

Use a cookie tin or cookie jar.

Fill with: cookie cook book, cookie cutters, chocolate chips, nuts, decorator icing set, assorted sprinkles
