How to Make Your Own Wedding Cake Topper

Mrs. Renee
Creating your own wedding cake topper can be a lot of fun. The best part is that you can make this cake topper out of chocolate. You can either use white chocolate or dark chocolate the choice is yours. To make your cake topper you will need several things. First you will need the mold. If you want the traditional bride and groom mold than go with that. If you want something a little bit plainer like a few hearts, than go with that. You can visit your local arts and craft store and pick up the mold that you want to use. You can also pick up the chocolate chips from the same store. If you don't like the chocolate from the arts and craft store you can pick up whatever other brand of chocolate you would like to have. You will need to purchase the bars and then melt them down.

Once the chocolate is all melted down you can pour it into the mold. Then follow the molding directions. In most cases the direction will instruct you to place the molds into the refrigerator. Once this is complete you can then pop the mold out and decide how you are going to arrange it on top of your cake. There are a few tips that you should consider when making your cake topper. You will want to measure the size of the cake topper with the size of the top cake. Remember that the cake topper is going to be made out of chocolate which can be a little on the heavy side for a very small cake. If you have someone making your cake talk to them about the cake topper before you start making it.

The person who is making the cake, (especially a baker), will suggest that you allow them to come up with a cake topper for you. They will want to charge you a bit more money for this option as well. You can start at least a few months before the wedding with making your cake topper. This way you will be able to do a few trial and error runs before the big day. At least a month before the wedding you will want to have your final piece ready to go. I would recommend that you make at least two cake toppers. This way if one of the toppers breaks, you will have a back up one all ready to go. You can store the toppers in the freezer and they will keep just fine. These are just a few ideas and suggestions on how to save some money and make your own cake toppers.
