The first thing that you will need to do is purchase boxes that are made for delicate items or you can use storage bins to transport your sensitive items. Regardless of which you use you will still need to make sure that you put some type of cushion on the inside. You can very simply use plastic bags, like the kids you get from the supermarket to line the box or bin. If you do not have enough plastic bags to provide enough cushions, then you can also use newspaper. Make sure that you have enough to cushion both the bottom and the sides of your box or bin. Next you can begin wrapping your glass items, or precious items using paper towels. Most people would probably tell you to use newspaper, but this is a bad idea. Why? Newspaper will usually leave some type of ink stain on your glass. This will end up causing you to have more work. Once you unwrap everything you will then have to clean them. Sometimes this process can take a while depending on how much ink actually rubbed off on your items. To make things easier on yourself you can just use paper towels to wrap the items in. Then you can carefully place them in the box or bin.
Don't worry about whether or not the paper towels will give enough cushions to your glass items, because they definitely will, as long as you use more than one piece of paper towel. Another suggestion is to make sure that you fill the box or bin with as many items as possible. Don't try to force anything in the box, because you may need up breaking something. Just stack everything in a comfortable manner until the bin or box is full. Once it is full you can seal it up using some packing tape. The reason why you want to make sure that you fill the box as much as possible is so that the items you have will not end up moving or sliding around in the box. The last step would be to make sure that you write fragile on the top of the box. This way anyone who chooses to pick up the box knows that they need to make sure they are extra careful.
