How to Pack Your Home or Office with Ease

Angela Fuller
Packing and organizing can be a time-consuming task, however, using colored packing tape can make the job much easier. From archiving documents for storage to moving your family cross-country, using a variety of colored tape when you pack can save you time and frustration later on. Here are a few ways to use colored tape to pack and organize your boxes:

HOUSEHOLD/FAMILY
1. Worried about glass or other fragile items getting damaged during a move? Try a bright red or yellow colored packing tape to easily show which boxes need to be handled with extra care. Red tape is also a great way to denote which boxes stored in the garage or basement need special attention when organizing or retrieving them for use.
2. If you have two or more children, assign a specific color to each child. Even the smallest family member can pick out their belongings easily with the added visual clue. Use a Sharpie to write each child's name on the inside of the tape roll so that all will remember which color has been assigned to which child.
3. Consider using different colors of packing tape to store and organize your seasonal decorations in the garage, basement or attic. A bright blue or yellow colored tape might be a good choice for Spring or Easter decorations, red or green tape works well for Christmas or other Fall and Winter holidays.

BUSINESS
1. If you routinely store past year invoices, sales orders or reports in traditional bankers boxes, consider using colored packing tape to denote a specific year, department, job or customer.
2. Easily identify tax records or other important financial statements by sealing boxes with a red colored tape before placing them in storage.
3. If you store extra supplies or parts in a warehouse or storeroom, consider using colored tape to distinguish between types of supplies.
4. Use a brightly colored tape (red, orange, yellow) to denote "last box". This could be the last copier toner box, last box of printed letterhead or any other items that require time to reorder. Taking a few extra moments to mark extra stock with colored tape can save you time and money in the future.

Colored packing tape is available at a variety of locations including hardware or big box stores as well as online retailers. Pricing and colors available can vary, however, colored tape is a fairly inexpensive option that can make your next packing or organizing project significantly easier.

What an awesome idea :) We write on the outside of the boxes and then, stack them so you can't read the writing anyway! This colored packing tape will do the trick :) cheers
