As you plan what to take, try to keep the majority of colors neutral and basic. Denim, black, white and other neutrals are easy to find combinations to match. However, adding a splash of color for summer (such as red or hot pink) is fine.
Choose to pack items which are made of easy-to-care-for fabrics. Cotton knits/, Lycra, nylon and/or spandex blends are comfortable and resistant to wrinkling. If need be, lightweight fabrics can be laundered fairly easily in a hotel room.
Twin sets can be great additions to your vacation wardrobe. They offer versatility in many ways. If it is cool, you will have a sweater. If it is warm you can wear the top by itself. Twin sets compliment most outfits and can be easily dressed up (with a simple skirt) or down (with a pair of shorts or jeans) depending on the situation.
Bring one dress. A black cotton dress can be worn with flats or thongs during the day and dressed up with heels at night.
Sarongs can be a lifesaver while you are on vacation. You can wear a sarong to cover a bathing suit while on the beach or pair it with a tank top when you go out at night. If you encounter windy or rainy weather it can serve as a neck or head scarf as well. Sarongs can also be used as colorful wraps and shawls to ward off the chill during a night out.
When you pack for your summer vacation, be sure to include more than one pair of shoes. You will want at least one comfortable pair of sandals or tennis shoes to wear while sight-seeing and traveling. A sexy pair of sandals, either low or high heeled can help spice up you nighttime wardrobe. If you will be around water on your vacation, you may want to consider bringing a pair of thongs/flip-flops as well.
Shorts and plain colored t-shirts or tank tops are great daytime choices while on vacation. However, make sure you include at least one pair of jeans or capris in case the weather turns cooler. You may also want to add a nice sweatshirt or sweater for the same reason.
When selecting t-shirts and tanks to pack for your vacation, you may want to avoid those with logos or designs on them. Wearing items with logos or designs can make you stand out as tourist and make you vulnerable to being taken advantage of. Also, depending on the logo and the location of your vacation, your shirt's message could be potentially offensive to others and causing you unwanted hassles.
Always pack at least two extra pairs of panties and bras and pack one set in your carry-on luggage if you are flying while on vacation. Then if you are delayed or your luggage is lost you at least have one clean set of underwear to change into.
Leave your expensive jewelry at home. If you want to accessorize, think about using a scarf or buying local items. Wearing expensive jewelry can make you vulnerable to theft and pick pocketing.
Be sure to leave room in your suitcase to bring home souvenirs. Some people even bring an extra tote bag to be sure they have enough room to bring back their vacation treasures.
