How to Get Page Views for Your Poetry

Taylor Rios-Denoir
Like many other writers, I also write poetry. Getting page views for poetry has been a little difficult, however, I have some suggestions that will help all of us aspiring poets!

1. Connect with other poets on Associated Content and any other writing sites you are a member of. Poets enjoy reading other poems besides their own. Some people simply do not enjoy poetry, while others like myself, find the hidden meaning in almost all poetic rhymes.

2. Join The Poetry Club created by Associated Content's very own PhoenixRox. She has set up a great tool to help us poets get recognized and page views. You don't need to commit to anything and it is free. Simply go to the site, scroll to the bottom of the screen and enter your name or pen name, email address (recommended, but not required), and the link to your poetry here on Associated Content. All she asks is that when you post a poetry link that you return the favor and read other member's poetry. Give a view, gain a view.

3. Join Facebook if you are not currently a member, and sign up for the groups of poetry. Two great ones that I belong to are:

Poet

Poem

4. Join Gather and check out their poetry groups. They have tons of groups just for poets like us! My favorite poetry groups on Gather are:

PoemFreaks

PoetryByUs

5. When you join a group or club where you can post your links to your poetry, be kind and click on other poems to read. Although it is not required, you might want to comment just to let them know you were there. I find that if I comment, they will read every link I post. A way of helping each other.

6. Don't stop writing poetry because of low page views! Page views can come quickly or slowly. I find that at first my poetry doesn't get very many page views, but as time goes on they start getting more and more.

There you have it. I hope with the above tips you will help generate more page views to your poetry. I have used all of the above methods with success. Although the success isn't overnight, you will generate fans that will stick with you no matter how rare or how frequently you write and publish your poetry. And while you are here, feel free to read some of my poetry!

Happy Rhyming!

Yeah poetry is a little tricky. It seems that the most page views come from "Hot Topics" sweeping the nation! Lol...ironically the same stuff that I hate to write about. The internet being what it is, I've always thought that "if you write it they will come". I guess not; you have to conform to make the money, so be it :)
