The first step is to lightly sand your kitchen floors. You of course want to make sure they are clean before you sand.
Now, once you have sanded you either need to mop away the dust or wipe it ways.
Now, once the linoleum floor shave dried you can roll on a coat of your oil based primer. You need to use an oil based primer as well as oil based paints to paint your linoleum kitchen floors to help in the fight against damage form every day use as well as water.
Once the primer has dried you are ready to start painting your linoleum floors to look like French Country tiles.
The first step is to paint the entire floor out in a warm grayish beige color. Apply one liberal coat to the entire floor and let it dry. This is going to be your grout when your French country kitchen tile floors are finished.
Let this first coat of paint dry for 24 hours.
Now, use your ¼ inch painter's tape to tape off your tiles.
Your tiles should be about 10 inches by ten inches. You really can make your kitchen floor tiles any size you want.
Be sure to press the tape down on the floor to get good contact.
Now, roll a coat of your terra cotta colored paint on top of the kitchen floor. You may need two coats.
One this paint has dried you are ready to start stenciling. You can stencil a fleur de le in the center of random tiles to create interest on your floor. Feel free to create a pattern or a random pattern.
Try to use either a black paint or a rich indigo blue for this stenciled color.
AS soon as you can walk on the painted linoleum floor start removing the painter's tape slowly and carefully.
Now, paint your entire floor with 5 coats of oil based polyurethane. This stuff is smelly so open the windows. Be sure to let each coat dry before you apply the next coat to your linoleum floors.

Post a CommentThat sounds like something I would like to try. Question: I have a couple of spots that are not the best of shape. Would I need to fill these areas and if so what would I use? Thanks
