How to Use Pando P2P

ssb
Introduction to Pando

Mail servers of ISPs impose a limit on the size of files that you are allowed to transfer. Pando can override this limitation through an application based on the BitTorrent P2P technology. Having installed the Pando client on your machine, you can send e-mail with attachment as you would in Outlook Express or Thunderbird. The difference is that your recipient does not directly receive the attachment file, but a few KB (kilobytes), usable by the client Pando to retrieve the said document, which resides in the Pando server (transfers are encrypted). The file size is still limited to 1 gigabyte, far superior to some MB that you have normally.

Here is the official site:

1 - Installing Pando

Once you've visited the official website and downloaded the program, run it by double clicking.

Click "Next".

Launch Pando by clicking on "Finish" at the end of the installation.

2 - Send a file by mail

You will now be at the transfer screen.

The first thing to do is enter your email address to send the file. To do this click on "Click to enter your email address".

Here in the "Full name" you must enter your name (so that you recognize your correspondent) and your e-mail address. Your e-mail address will be used to send you a copy of the email as we stated: "Email copies will be sent to this address."

Once the two fields have been filled click "ok".

Now we will select our file that we want to send by mail to our destination. To do this click on "browse".

A small window appears, go find your file.

Once found double click it.

The file will be attached. Now we will have to enter your e-mail and then the message will be designed.

Once everything is ready you can click on "send" (top left)

A copy of the mail is first being sent to you. Then it will be sent to your recipient. You can see the progress and speed in the window.

The sending process is finished.

3 - Receive a file

You must retrieve the attachment received by your sender. The file extension is. "Pando". Once this is done double click on it.

The download will engage directly with Pando. You can follow the progress and speed of receipt.

At the end of the reception a message will be displayed.

You can open the file directly by selecting "open" if you want.

By default the file is saved in the subdirectory "My Pando Packages" located in the "My Documents" folder. You absolutely can change this in options, it's very simple to do.

Finally to close Pando you must click the right mouse button on the icon in your taskbar and choose "Shut Down Pando".

You now know how to use Pando! A very handy tool for exchanging files regardless of size! You could use bittorrent or another P2P method, however this P2P method is the most private and secure.
