How a Panic Room Can Help You Survive an Attack of Flesh Eating Zombies and Increase the Value of Your Home
Why Installing a Panic Room is the Right Choice
Have a hidden panic room
Hiding at home during an attack of flesh eating zombies is a great way to get oneself killed because most homes typically have no place to hide. However if one were to hide the entrance to their cellar with a hidden door, or have a secret panic room that is undetectable, then it would be safer to stay at home than to venture outside. Bookcases, fireplaces, and mirrors all make great entrances to panic rooms that even the living would not know were there. Besides being a place to hide, secret passageways and panic rooms are practical even when there isn't an outbreak of zombies because they make great places to hide one's valuables.
Moving bookcases are a do it yourself project
Hidden doors and secret passageways look best when installed by professionals. Hiddenpassageway.com can make custom doors that will match existing woodwork in any home. If one doe not want to pay for a professional to make and install secret passageway, one can do it themselves with a bookcase and a piano hinge or industrial sliding track. A zombie, or any other intruder, will not care who installed the panic room because if it is done properly they will not notice it.
Supplies to keep in a panic room
There should be plenty of water and dry food in a panic room. There should also be a toilet, as there is no telling just how long one may need to stay inside. Additionally there should be surveillance equipment so that one can determine if it is safe to come out - or if there are any brain eating zombies on the other side. One should also keep a healthy stock of ammunition in their panic room in case they need to fight zombies. While automatic weaponry is ideal as it can take down a horde of flesh eating zombies in no time, many states have laws preventing the living from acquiring them. Riffles and pistols are a great start, and there should be plenty of weaponry for the whole family to defend themselves against either the undead or the living. A very low noise power generator should be inside the panic room to power all of the electronics and lights.
There should also be plenty of things to keep one occupied while waiting. When one isn't out killing zombies they will need to kill time. A great idea is for one to keep several books that they have always wanted to read, but have never had the time to do so, in their panic room. A television and some movies should also be inside a panic room in order to help pass the time. Shaun of the Dead, Fido, and 28 Days later are all zombie movies that will give hope to anyone waiting out the zombie apocalypse. Be sure to include several Disney movies as well for the kids.
Having a panic room can increase the resale value of a home
Not only is it an added feature that is practical because it can help one store precious valuables and allow one hide from zombies, having a secret passageway can make a home be more memorable, leading to a higher sales price. Having a panic room can increase the value of a home because when one goes to put the home on the market, buyers will remember the house with the secret passageway in it. If the buyer was down to two similar homes at the same price, it is unlikely the other home will have a secret passageway - meaning that the buyer has an added reason to buy.
