How to Make Paper Mache

MATERIALS

A gallon of milk in a plastic jar

Newspaper, torn into 1 inch by 6-8-inch strips

Team white paper or paper towels,

torn into strips

Flour and water mixture of Paper Mache

Sal

Craft scissors and knives

Assorted colors of acrylic paint

Craft feathers (optional)

INSTRUCTIONS

Preparing the work surface:

Preparing the work surface with a layer of newsprint can be discarded or an old plastic tablecloth, you can clean goop and glop that are part of this dirty!

Tear several pages of newspaper into strips about 1 inch wide by 6.8 inches long. Do not try to be careful and cut with scissors, torn edges adhere more closely and give a smooth surface to the whole project.

HOW TO MAKE PAPER MACHE PASTE:

This is our favorite recipe:

Mix the flour with a 5 parts water. Bring to a boil in the heat and simmer for 3 minutes. Add a tablespoon or two of salt to help prevent mold. You will be thick as glue. Cool and pour into a plastic container in the left.

Other paper mache Paste Recipe Options:

Recipe # 1 - A part of flour to two parts water. Squeeze songs and add a tablespoon or two of salt and to prevent mildew.

Recipe # 2-3 / 4 cup white glue 1 / 4 cup water

Recipe No. 3 - liquid starch in your supermarket

COURT OF MILK jug:

With a pair of scissors, cut the pot of milk half from top to bottom. You can use the handle of the pitcher or the other, which seems the most interesting of the mask. Soak and remove labels. Rinse and dry completely.

Layering:

Wrap strips around the eyeholes short from front to back of the mask. Let the first coat to dry completely.

Each layer has a maximum of 24 hours. Dry to cover its remaining flour mixture and place in refrigerator to avoid spoiling the night. When you're ready for the next layer, just microwave for about a minute. This is good and hot to work!

Apply a second layer to the pitcher, this time the fish strips in a horizontal plane and overlap. This second and last layer should be torn strips of white computer paper. This allows coverage of painting easier when it is time to decorate.

DECORATION:

Zulu Warrior

Now your paper mache mask is ready for painting and decorating. You can paint a layer of a solid color first, then add more details. Rings around the eyes, spots and stripes of different colors to add a mask to his fierce warrior Zulu. Crafts feathers can be hot-glued to the top of the mask to add the effect.

Mummy mask

While doing this paper mache project, we discovered that the unpainted mask looks like a real mummy face, with white (computer paper) packaging! In this way, many decorative Halloween!
