There are many winter crafts for making your own snowflake. This craft will teach you how to make a paper plate snowflake with crafts. Creating a paper plate snowflake with crafts only takes a few easy steps. When you are done, you can hang up your snowflake to show off to everyone. You can even use it as a yearly winter decoration for the home! Children and adults can take part in this craft at home, classrooms, and child care centers.

This winter craft does take a few materials besides a paper plate. You can find the materials in most stores that sell craft, school, and office supplies at affordable prices. There is a chance you have a few of the materials needed around the house already.

Here are the materials and directions on how to make a paper plate snowflake with crafts. There are a few tips and ideas included, so it may be best to read through all of the directions before beginning.

Note: It is recommended that young children have the help and supervision of an adult for this craft.

Materials:

Colorful Pipe Cleaners.
Colorful Craft Popsicle Sticks.
Glue.
Glitter (optional).
Hole Punch (optional).
Strong String (optional).

Directions:

1. For this craft, you will want to use pipe cleaners or Popsicle sticks in one of the follow colors: white, light blue, or silver.

2. This is optional, but you may find it is easier to do this craft if you cut the rims off of the paper plate.

3. Pick out a design or two for your snowflake. When you know how to want to decorate it, you can start gluing your pipe cleaners and Popsicle sticks. Remember, no two snowflakes are exactly alike. So don't be afraid to make a few in different designs. Here are a few ideas:

A. Decorate one snowflake with only pipe cleaners.

B. Decorate another snowflake with only Popsicle sticks.

C. Decorate a third snowflake with both pipe cleaners and Popsicle sticks.

D. You can cut a few of the pipe cleaners and even change up the patterns.

These ideas will keep your snowflakes different and unique!

Allow the glue time to completely dry.

4. If you want to add a little sparkle to your snowflakes, you can decorate it with white, blue, or silver glitter. Place a few drops of glue on your snowflake and sprinkle the glitter over it or simply use glitter glue. Allow the glitter time to completely dry.

5. If you want to hang it up, use a hole punch to carefully punch a small hole at the top of your snowflake. Carefully tie a strong piece of string through the hole. Be careful not to rip the hole. You can double the knot or place a drop of glue on the knot to hold it.

Once you tie the string through the snowflake, you can tie the other end to wherever you want to hang it. Some people may tie it to a push pin in the wall.

Learning how to make a paper plate snowflake with crafts is not hard to do. The craft is not too time consuming and you can design your snowflake however you want. Add some glitter, beads, or buttons to the snowflake with a little glue. Color the paper plate to match the pipe cleaners and Popsicle sticks. You can even write fun winter messages on it, such as "Happy Winter" and "Let It Snow". If you are making more than one paper plate snowflake, then you can always cut a few of the plates and pipe cleaners into smaller sizes. This way your snowflakes will come in various designs and sizes.

Have fun learning how to make a paper plate snowflake with crafts. When you are done, hang them up and show off your great work!

I have never done this using a paper plate. I have done it using construction paper though.
