Not only can you use the tubes from the toilet paper you can also use the tubes from paper towels and rolls of wrapping paper to make this project. By saving the tubes, you will save on part of this project. You will discover there are many items that will fit into the center of these tubes. You can decorate the tubes for kid's birthday, school, and holiday parties such as, Halloween and Christmas.
Materials Needed for the Candy Holders
Toilet paper, paper towel, or wrapping paper rolls. You will need to cut the longer card board rolls down to approximately the length of a toiler paper roll holder. By doing this you will be able to get more holders for your party favors.
Individually Wrapped Candy. You will need individually wrapped pieces of candy such as Dum Dum size suckers, peppermint disks, butterscotch disks, cinnamon disks or mini size candy bars.
Small Party Favors. You can also add a small party favor or two inside the cardboard tube for an added surprise and bonus.
Tissue paper, colored cellophane wrap or fabric. The fabric will be used to cover the cardboard roll holders and to hold the treats inside.
Ribbon. You can use cloth or the paper curling ribbon to tie the ends of the fabric.
Tape. The tape will be used to attach the covering to the holder.
Scissors. The scissors will be used to cut the covering and ribbons for the candy or treat holders.
Directions for Making the Tubed Candy Holder
Cut the covering for the tubes 61/4" long by 9 1/4'" wide.
NOTE: Double stick tape would be best for this project. By using the double stick tape, the tape will not show on the outside of the wrapping.
Place one end of the covering on the tube and tape from one end to the other. Roll the covering around the tube and tape from one end to the other again.
Cut two strips of ribbon 18 inches long. Tie one end of the wrapping off as close to the roll as possible without tearing the covering.
Fill the roller with the treats you purchased.
Tie the open end of the holder off.
You have just completed your first toilet paper holder candy dish. Continue the process until you have enough of the holders made for your guests.
As mentioned at the beginning of the article, the toilet paper candy holders can be made for holidays too. You wouldn't have to fill them if you want to use them for decorations only. Substitue the covering for the project to match the holiday decorations in your home. You can also make the candy holders for the special trick or treaters in your neighborhood.
