How to Be a Parent

If you are young and you have just gotten married, you are probably ignorant of what it means to have a kid, unless you have brothers, sisters, friends, etc. that had their kids before you. You may have shared with them the responsibility for the kids, and may have followed their problems and learned a little bit about what it means to be a young parent, and what life is like with a young family, etc.

If you don't have knowledge about life as a parent and about a baby, that becomes a child who doesn't stop running around and making noise, never listening to you, you don't know what it really means...

You may believe that your child will play quietly with his or her toys, while you read your book or do something else; however you had better be prepared to have an acrobat in your life. Your kid will prefer to sit over your head and to follow you everywhere, making noise all the time.

When the babies grow up, you have to bear their friends.

What kind of friends?

Ah... This is a very big problem. Their friends will fight with their parents and you will have to lodge them. When you have prepared their bed with clean sheets and everything, they will tell you that they are not going to sleep at your house after all, but will go back to their house, in order to fix the situation with their parents.

Then you or your husband will have to take the kids home in your car in the middle of the night.

Well, you will be a chauffeur for your kids and their friends, of course. This is a law.

Your own kids will always be innocent in every fight. It will always be the other kids who cause the problems, and they will be the poor ones that the teacher saw first or that the teacher always reprimands because he or she doesn't like them.

Their bad luck concerning time matters will cause them to always miss the first lesson of the day, only for a second...

As a matter of fact, if you have boys, bad luck will be the cause of many problems. It will break other people's windows, other people's trees, tools, glasses and many other possessions. Boys are very unlucky creatures.

If you have girls, everything is complicated. You have to follow and protect them. Shouting is routine, not to mention, too much talking, questions, details...

Girls care about their clothes and their appearance. You will have many expenses trying to fulfil all their desires.

In summary, when you become a parent, you have to forget your peace and your freedom, your plans and your desires.

Usually, your kids are not as you would like them to be. They have their own personality and if they don't want to listen to you, they won't, while your life will depend on their decisions.

You will be imprisoned in a very unpleasant situation without a doubt, only because you will have to care for your kids above all and this is going to become a rule in your life. You will become a slave.

Your kids may never listen to you, may cause you many problems, and turn your life into an adventure, without letting you take a breath.

So, when you decide to be a parent, be careful.

I'm not trying to discourage you, but to show you reality as it is, because if you are ignorant you may make many mistakes, and these mistakes may some day cause you depression and worse mental illnesses.

Your kids are going to grow up and become terrible teens. Teens are the hardest existing species to deal with.

They need guidance and support and you have to give them the best foundation for the healthy development of their personality. You have to be a rock that will make them feel secure and a font of infinite wisdom and patience.

This is why you have to continue learning well, what it means in life to have a kid or two, and learn everything that you have to do if you want to face this challenge, so that your family will bring you satisfaction and happiness and you will feel grateful that you are a parent.
